Why do you assume that Rics' buyout is $9 Million? Or did I miss something?

I personally can't even imagine being a white guy living in Utah. I'm entirely too accostumed to cultural diversity. However, I'm all for multiple wives. That sounds fun.

Utah is reportedly going to hand Glen a check for $2m and send him on his happy little way...

"O'Connor, the Jazz's vice president of basketball operations, would not comment on terms of the settlement that voids the final year of Rice's contract. But it's logical to assume that Rice, who will be waived early next week, agreed to a reduction in the $7 million-plus that was owed on his contract."

I can't believe there is anybody who wants his dead weight, no defense playin' arse back on the Rockets. For what reason? JJ can out score him, AGriiff can out defend him, at this point in Rice's career Pike can out shoot him and Boki could use the minutes.

Gee, why didn't Utah take advantage of all those great offers the Rox missed on Glen's expiring contract? :D

It's not 9 million. It's around 7.5 million cuz Les is paying part of it.

Well, when you're nagged by one wife you go see the others. But of course if you get multiple divorces and have to pay multiple alimony...

Too true... who'd want to marry MULTIPLE Utah chicks. Gahhh.

Gotta love the secret underwear the Mormons wear, though.

i wish we can sign rice back for a vet minimum. he's a good out of the bench player that can torch threes. only thing is he's sluggish on defense and he's injuries are really hurtin not only himself but the team.

Before you get too out of control, you should know that I:

    1. Live in Utah
    2. Am Mormon, and
    3. Met my wife here, although she's from Baltimore

    :)

You hit the nail on the head. I totally agree.

Van Gundy: Glen, I'm sorry but I have to let you go. I'm the man.

Sloan: Glen, I'm sorry but I have to let you go. Van Gundy's the man.

Rice: It sucks not being the man :(

Really. The Rockets get ripped for using Rice's "valuable" contract to acquire Amaechi, a big trade exception, and Jim Jackson. Meanwhile, the Jazz take this same contract that's supposedly of ENOURMOUS value, and....buy it out.

Man, public schools in Houston must be terrible. Please do your homework in the future. Rice's contract is for around 7mil, base salary, but it counts 9 mil against the cap because of bonuses on his contract that at the time he was demed "likely to achieve". So really his contract is for 7 mil. Assume that Utah paid him 50% of that, and you are looking at $3.5 mil. $3mil of that will get paid by the cash that Houston included in the trade deal. So really Utah paid $500k to get rid of John Ameachi's $2.5mil per season, 2 year deal. Oh yeah and Utah got 2 conditional first rounders out of it. Thanks Houston!

Yeah...what if MFW went to school in Utah? Or what if he went to a boarding school? Or private school? Or homeschooled? What if he doesn't feel like doing his homework?

Yeah...we got pretty screwed. But we did get Jimmy Jackson. JAZZ SUCK! They are the worst team in the NBA!

Jazz are gonna need those conditional picks the Rockets gave them, call it a sympathy trade since everyone knows that the Jazz will stink for a long time.

I don't see an impact player in college or international that will turn around the Jazz fortunes anytime soon either. Even if one comes along and they are drafted by the Jazz, don't see them staying too long (who the hell would want to live in Salt Lake City?). They will just ride out their contract and go elsewhere.

Jazz are gonna be the Clippers of the new Millenium!
