all teams have these types of injuries, you can only do so much to prevent them and all teams have them. Look at Indiana, Reggie is still out and they have some other bodies out there too! the key is depth!!!! and some luck!!!!
I like the combination of Collier and Ming. They both have a soft touch in perimeter and Collier is a good at dirty work.
Its not really his fault. Remember the thing Clutch had where only Yao did what Jones told the team to do? Plus, he has made extra precautions for Steve, Mo, and Rice.
1) Yao Ming's direction-taking at his first practice has nothing to do with a proven track record of Rockets fragility. 2) These extra precautions for Steve, Mo, and Rice have translated into over 100 missed basketball games in 1 year. At what point does one point the finger at the training staff?

Originally posted by Trader_Jorge FIRE KEITH JONES NOW.

give it up dude, they just promoted him to Vice President...poor TJ, his pet-peeve will continue.
I have to admit; when I saw that article (that I think windandsea posted) about how Yao was doing stretching exercises religously, but the other players just laughed it off... ....that's the first thing I thought of.... There needs to be a culture change for the Rockets. Keith is pretty popular. Whether the Rockets keep him or not, there needs to be a change though, and someone needs to be accountable if the players aren't doing the day to day things that will keep them healthy. Maybe the Rockets are no different than any other NBA team in this regard. If so, then I guess we've had an abnormal string of bad luck. Eventually though.....(if injuries keep occuring).....someone is going to have realize that we have an inordinate number of players getting hurt........and maybe it isn't just bad luck. Maybe this is one of the reason's why Rudy is such a "player's" coach.
IMO, if the players don't listen to the trainer, they are going to be injured. And for precaution, I was talking about after injuries. Steve wanted to play REAL bad, but Keith wouldn't let him. Had Steve gone and hurt himself and been out for the year, you'd be mad at him for that reason. Keith seemed to do the same with the others. Also, as mentioned, he was promoted. I don't think he'd be doing bad if he got promoted. Most of the injuries this year have all been little things or the re-injuring of an already injured part. (mostly Mo.) As for the serious injuries, Keith could do nothing to prevent it. Steve's were due to diet and probably shoes, Mo's was a freak accident, and Rice was already hurt, old, and overweight. Everyone else seemed to do well. Most of the injuries were just bad luck.
guys...I have been around a few camps before through friends in NBA and NFL and no one takes the stretching seriously!!!! also, the tendon he tweaked is not one that you necessarily prevent from tweaking through stretching....it happens just like ankle sprains...
Good lord this is bad news. Just a few months ago we were talking about how heavy we were at the forward spots. Looks like Boki will get a chance to play a lot sooner than we thought.
How bad is a tweaked knee? If they took an MRI you would think he tweaked it pretty good. I certainly hope your right but when I hear tweake knee, MRI and day to day all at the same time it does not give me a lot of encouragement that he will be able to go 30+ minutes and even then he may not be very effective. 2 days is not a lot of time for an old mans bad knee to heel, even if it is minor. I do hope you are right though because we need him.
Yao Ming said a few days ago that when he felt a little bit pain of his injured ankle during the practice the coach asked him to rest at once. He said in China he couldn't rest and would finish the practice anyway in the same case. (maybe because the coaches of China think the willpower can beat the injury?) I think the coach and doctor of NBA are more careful about the health of the players. That's the reason many players can still on the court when they are in their late thirties.
I began to get a bad feeling awhile back when I read Glen's comments about how nervous he was prior to our first preseason game. He told the media at the time that "good things" happen when he's nervous prior to a game, and he did well in that game, and seemed to be getting stronger as the preseason went on. At the time though, I took his comments to mean he knows this injury might be the thing that closes the door on his career. The Rockets wanted him, we got him, and poof, he goes down. I feel for him, and hope he makes a speedy recovery.
I've "tweaked" my surgically repaired knee and it is not a sprain, rather..an unackwardness....it is a strain!!!! In fact, I worked out today on my "tweaked" knee...feels tight. strained knees go away pretty quickly...a few days, though Wednesday to me seems short time, maybe Friday is more like it....
I've had this injury (patella tendon strain) quite a few times in the past and I've found it to be a chronic thing that lingers for months and actually is both rehabilitated and prevented thru stretching - or just taking some weeks off from ball completely.
paging Dr. Balke Paging Dr. Balke . . . Jeff, looking for some insight and hopefully a prognosis with respect to a minor sprain of the patella tendon . . .
