All I know is when I get home on a Tuesday with nothing major to do around the house and just want to lay on the couch. Watching Revolution on my iPad is not that horrible of an afternoon. I think some of you have taken your TV watching to another level. An almost religious zealot level.
I can't decide if it's the writing or her acting that makes it so bad. I think it's both. I can see what the writer is trying to do with her, but it's just not working. She wants to help the slaves and the rebels, yet she treats her stepmom like crap. She wants to save her brother, but she gets sidetracked easily.
Maybe. There's a lot of good tv out now so the bar has been raised. I also think that some people had high hopes for this because of the people involved behind the scenes. And if I was sitting around the house alone on Tuesday afternoon with nothing to do, I'd probably be watching something else on my iPad lol.
NBC has just picked it up for the rest of the season http://omg.yahoo.com/news/nbc-picks-full-seasons-revolution-normal-204713317.html "We're impressed with the imagination and creative direction of the entire team on 'Revolution,' not to mention the immediately strong response we got from the audience," Salke said in a statement. "Ordering the full season of this show is a pleasure. Thanks to J.J. Abrams, Erik Kripke, Jon Favreau, and everyone at Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television for their dedication to making a truly unique series. And I personally love to escape into a world where there is no power, the phone doesn't ring, and the pace of life slows down -- if only for one hour a week!"
If it were anyone but NBC [well any network] I'd think this would give them some security Rocket River
I can see this playing it out like Heroes. The show is getting really good ratings right now and is in for a full season. But does it have longevity? Hhow long can they play out the whole mystery behind the power being out angle, and where could they go from there?
To be fair, they seem to be moving the power out storyline pretty quickly, with the friends already discovering power, and the daughter's group and the mother-in-law's group seeming to meet up again in the next episode. I think being able to keep the plot moving forward at a decent pace will be key to this show. It won't have staying power if it goes at the pace of, say, LOST.
The first season of Heros is pretty decent. Revolution is terrible. The only reason why Revolution is doing ok is because there is no real competition on Tuesday night and this is one of the better freshman shows. It also doesn't help that I've just caught up on the Luther series.
'Revolution' ratings surge NBC’s Revolution‘s ratings surged Monday night thanks to … to … Not sure, exactly. But this is definitely good news for the post-apocalyptic drama. Revolution delivered 8.8 million viewers and a 3.4 rating, reversing its gradual downward-ebbing trend. That’s up 13 percent from last week and marks a three-week high for the show. Revolutions‘s powerful lead-in The Voice (12.8 million, 4.6) was perfectly steady with last week’s rating, so that didn’t boost it. Both of Revolution‘s 10 p.m. rivals — CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 (8.4 million, 2.0), up 5 percent, and ABC’s Castle (10.9 million, 2.0), down 9 percent — aired original episodes, so there wasn’t softer competition last night. In fact, you could say there was more competition since Fox (which normally doesn’t program 10 p.m.) had baseball playoffs going late into primetime. So can we credit Revolution itself for this gain then? “I don’t know of any artificial reason for the increase, looks legitimate to me,” one network ratings analyst emailed. Revolution was a big swing that many us thought would open to a sizable number, but we worried whether the J.J. Abrams-produced drama could sustain itself given the track record in recent years of other serialized high-concept sci-fi shows like The Event, Alcatraz, FlashForward and V. Revolution does, however, have one very important thing going for it: It’s better than those shows. Wondering, long shot, but … could the massive ratings enjoyed by AMC’s post-apocalyptic The Walking Dead premiere Sunday night put some viewers into the mood to check out Revolution? EW Daily Poll: Should Paula Abdul always judge 'DWTS'? Also, NBC just put out an announcement: For the first time in 10 years, the network has won the first three weeks of the broadcast season in the adult demo. Moment of silence for this milestone … now back to Monday’s rundown. Revolution wasn’t the only show to rise last night. The CW’s 90210 (1.1 million, 0.6), after last week’s disappointing premiere rating, popped 50 percent (yes, the ratings were modest to begin with, but still…50 percent is 50 percent). Too bad that rise didn’t help 9 p.m.’s Gossip Girl (762,000, 0.4), the ratings for which confirm the show is ready to wrap things up. CBS’ comedy block show some mild gains, too, but there was some NFL preemptions that make the network’s early numbers unreliable. Lets just say they were all within 7 percent of last week. ABC’s Dancing With the Stars (13.5 million, 2.1) was down 5 percent despite Paula Abdul guest starring. http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/10/16/revolution-ratings-surge/ I have to say I'm a little surprised by this, really thought this suffer the same fate as the other NBC shows listed in the article.
Not a bad show, but it's far from great. It usually sits on my DVR a few days before I get to it. The new show I'm most into right now is Last Resort.
I know it is something we are supposed to just turn our brains off about, but the science of how electricity has just stopped working in any form is really, really dubious. I mean, if it was an EMP blast of some kind, then batteries would still work, right? It will probably just be explained by some magical sci-fi device that no one can really explain.
Actually though, I kind of got into last nights episode. Here's hoping the girl really comes out of the naive shell she has been in and does start taking charge. Was good to see some Neville back story. But I am still concerned with how inept the rebel group seems. Stuff like the "Hey look the guy is escaping and we can't do anything about it. Oh where did he go now", is getting annoying. Overall I think the story is progressing a bit better and the character motivations are becoming more clear. I'm guessing we soon start moving towards a search for the necklaces since we pretty well know where the brother is now.
