Took the gang out to see it tonight. It was GREAT. Very gory, though. Very thrilling. Overall, I thought it was just as good, if not better than the first.
Some of the actors left a lot to be desired...otherwise it was just as good as the original and had a great ending. I would say the gore and squirm factor was taken up a notch too.
Honestly, i thought the first was still better, but the second one is up there. The ending was sort of predictable but I didnt guess all of it. Still worth the price of admission
Just saw it too (no pun intended) and I thought it was as good as the original. In fact it was probably a little better than the original, since sequel's are always at a disadvantage to the original, yet I still liked both of them equally. Acting was better overall, but a couple of people definitely should have taken a couple more classes (the big guy and the chubby white dude in particular). On the flipside I thought Donny Whalberg and whoever the dude is that plays the mastermind were both really good in this. I didn't guess the ending, but I had my suspicions. GOOD movie overall. Better acting could have made it VERY good.
I liked the movie, though not nearly as much as the first. It didn't have the same puzzle-solving novelty of the first movie alot of their actions seemed counter-intuitive unlike the first one where you could reason why the characters did what they did. Other than that, pretty good movie overall and definitely enough gore to last me for a while.
very good movie. saw it last night. the first is always better but it picks up very well from where it left off. i liked it, i couldn't predict what was coming most of the time, which is always good. i don't like being able to predict what is going to happen. worth the money to see in the theater.
The first one was so incredibly horrible that I would never pay to see II. The only thing about the first one that was entertaining was the sheer terribleness was comedic.
If you liked the first one, you'll like the second one as well. I loved both of them mainly because of the concept and plot behind them. I usually end up laughing through "horror" movies because they are so ridiculously stupid and unrealistic. Not to say that what happens in "Saw" and "Saw II" is necessarily realistic, but as you watch it you can think about what you would do in their dilemma. That's why I like it so much. (Of course you have to have some kind of tolerance, or even like the gore).
Seems most of the people that liked it also liked the first. I don't hear any "Well, I didn't care for the first one, but the second one really improved in all the areas the first was lacking and I liked it a lot." At this point, that's about the only thing that would make me feel a desire to see this movie. The first had too many plotholes and just very stupid things in it for me to be anything but extremely disappointed with it. I'm sure in the end, morbid curiousity will win out and I'll see Saw II.
I didn't see the first one until it came out on video b/c most horror films are crap but I really liked Saw and went to see Saw II on Friday night and I thought it was as good if not better than the original. It was intense, very gory, and kept the same theme of the first one but changed it up a little. Very entertaining movie.
It was a great movie.. FOR ME TO POOP ON!! SAW 1 was so bad it had me LMAO when the guy from the Princess Bride (Cary Elwes) was crying and pissed off through out the movie.. I do think it was the worst plot, and acting I have seen in a horror movie.. and I've seen lots of cheesy 80's horror movies.. I wont be seeing part 2..
I dont think that the plot was horrible, I actually thought that it had potential. It was just that the acting was so incredibly horrible that they could have never pulled it off. It was so bad that I was embarrassed for a lot of the actors in the movie. My favorite part was when the dude with the clown mask comes rolling up on a tricylce. I mean we were on the floor laughing. It was so ridiculous and not scary that it was comic genius.
Yeah for me really, the first one was horrible. I've never been able to understand why people liked it either. The torture/death scenes were pretty cool I'll admit but not enough to make the movie good. If they had somehow combined those scenes with a movie like se7en then it would probably be pretty badass.
I don't get the people who knock these movies for bad acting. I havent seen Saw 2, but saw the first one. The same knocking the acting occured then too, it seems realistic to me, people being messed with will freak out and who knows what they'll do, it wouldnt surprise me if people screamed and what not like they did in the movie, IMO.
I just saw this movie last night with a lot of my friends and everybody liked it. The movie isn't perfect, but it does its job and scares the **** out of people. If you don't care too much about acting and enjoy plot twists, this will definitely be one of the BEST scary movies you'll see in years.
