Does anyone know why the Calvin Murphy jersey hanging from the banner has Hall of Famer on it while Moses Malone’s does not? Is it because Mo chose to go into the Hall wearing a 76ers uniform or maybe because his jersey was retired and hung in the rafters before his induction. I just thought it was odd that he did not have Hall of Fame on his jersey like Calvin did.

Don't know, but here's another question.

Rudy will probably be a HOF coach. I've heard it speculated upon by others, and if he takes this team to any championships, it's a lock. If he does go to the hall, will they put the HOF thing on his banner as well? I'd suspect not, because they are for two different achievements. Perhaps Rudy would get another banner -- one that says "Kapayaa!" on it :)

    Here's another question:

The Big E wore #11 and #44, which are currently worn by Yao Ming and Terrance Morris, respectively. Elvin Hayes played here from 1968-69 to 1971-72, and again from 1981-82 to 1983-84. I've always wondered why we nevered retired his number. Didn't he win an MVP with the Rockets, or was that with another team? Either way, I say his number ought to be up there.

Speaking of Big E, I wonder why he wasn't sitting with Dream and Mo. I read that Dream,Mo and Yao took a pregame picture together. Has anybody seen it or does anybody have a link to it?

I would have liked to see Big E's jersey retired as well since he was the first big time player that ever played for the organization. He actually played a total of 7 years with the Rockets and most of them were in his dominant years.

In his years with the club he averaged:
    Points per game
    28.4
    27.5
    28.7
    25.2
    16.1
    12.9
    5.0

    Rebounds per game
    17.1
    16.9
    16.6
    14.6
    9.1
    7.6
    3.2

In comparison Moses Malone only played for the Rockets for 6 years. Moses collected a couple of MVP’s and took the team to the finals in 1980 but Big E clearly diserves to have his number hanging from the Rafters besides Moses Malone and Hakeem Olajuwan.

Here are Mo’s numbers with the team
    Points per Game
    13.5
    19.4
    24.8
    25.8
    27.8
    31.1

    Rebounds per Game
    13.4
    15
    17.6
    14.5
    14.8
    14.7

Mo’s and Big E’s stats are very comparable in my opinion. Houston’s legacy of great centers goes back to the beginning of the organization not just when Moses Malone became a Rocket. Maybe we should start a retire Big E’s jersey campaign. I certainly don’t understand why we retired Drexler’s jersey and not Big E’s.

    Bump.

C'mon Rockets. Put Big E up where he belongs.
