Do you do LinkedIn as well? I need a refresh for my resume and would like to get LinkedIn done as well since it is similar.
Sign up for Doostang or Ladders; they'll email you with a free "consult" ripping your resume to shreds and then offer a $300 resume screen, then a second email solicitation.
That place is terrible- I used to write for the Ladders. To prove my point about their "scam," once I wrote a resume for one of their clients, following THEIR guidelines to the letter, and then had the client send it to them for a review, saying that he had it written by another company. They ripped it to shreds, saying that it "missing SO many key strategies" (a phrase they used verbatim on every single one of their "critiques") and that the Ladders HAD to rewrite it for him. Unbelievable.
Depends whether or not they need to know your legal first name. For a resume, I would simply put your nickname. Based on personal preference though. When I read resumes (at a collegiate level) I prefer the middle name. I especially don't want to know your first name if you prefer to be called something else. Can be confusing.
OP: sorry to hear this but maybe just maybe it will work out very well. Better now, in terms of the job market, than anytime in the last 7 years or so. Best of luck.
Appreciate the sympathy. Funny enough, the OP was made a year ago and instead of needing to market myself I ended up with more overall control of the company and more money. In the end I didn't need the resume, though I did pay Dan to make one. The few people who saw it were highly impressed with it. BUT, regardless of that, I highly recommend Dan. He was a blast to talk to on the phone and gave me a lot of pointers and tips. I was doing a resume all wrong!
Dandorotik, you did my resume about a year and half ago or so.. Got a good job but might have to move due to outsourcing. Anyways, how much for a touch up!
Great picture. True story folks, I had 10+ years of experience but a joke of a resume. I was just bulleting stuff in word. Haha. Dan's style seemed so different to me, but I passed it along to a headhunter and one HR person and they were impressed. Seriously, if you are asking if it is worth it, the answer is yes. Great work, great guy, funny conversation and a Rockets fan to boot!
I was going to reach out him, but my job has magically turned around and I should be hearing of an expanded new role and responsibilities any day now. If not, I'll definitely be giving him a call!
Well, I wish everyone was as nice and intelligent as the ClutchFans clients. Here was a response from a client whose resume had been sent to him on time but was in his Spam folder, which he didn't bother to check: "It is very unprofessional from your part no matter the time that you have been doing this, you send me a message before and since them I have you in a safe list. You fail to sent this on time and with that you fail on the agreement. Excuses are good only for the person that gives them, you certainly will not receive my recommendation and as I said before if the resume is not a professional resume I will be requesting the total refund for this job and I will pass to all agencies that should know how you work." Then, when he finds the resume is really in the Spam folder, which I suggested, this is what I get a few days later: "Thanks for the resume, I see that is a very professional and gets my information and creates a real life report of who am I. Also I review the cover letter and is great for me, I have shown to my sisters and close friends and they liked and were impressed for the way the message flows." Yep. You get all kinds. Made me feel like I was reading the beginning and end of certain game-day threads: D-MO SUCKS!! TRADE HIS ASS!! D-MO IS GREAT!! MVP!!!
People are unappreciative. You seem like a really good guy helping people out like that. A great resume will get you in the door, and that is all you can ask for.
