are you serious? Who do you think will ultimately pay for all this debt that has been issued, in order to fund these asset purchases and other fed actions?

    long term perspective is everything

The parties are becoming closer and closer to the same. They both want your money. They just want to spend it differently. Republicans want to spend on defense/big business tax breaks and Democrats want to spend on social welfare and giving money to people who haven't or wont earn for themselves.

Whatever happened to you get what your abilities let you earn? That was a founding principle in this country.

Libertarins are the ony people who want less govt intrusion and actually will carry thru on the above stated principle. Which is why they will never win the nomination of the GOP. The old guard GOP would lose power and there will be none of that kinda talk.

Republicans are terrorists? At least we dont have that muslim in chief that blocks world war 2 vets from seeing their memorial

Using national parks/memorials as political game pieces makes you a terrorists. Game over, thanks for playing libtards

LOL! There are very few veterans who don't understand that the Republicans are the ones that shut down the WW2 memorial. The vets also understand that the Republicans are the ones trying to use them to pretend they care about veterans.

Shutting down the veterans affairs office, then having the nerve to try and act like heroes for complaining about the WW2 monument they shut down, while spending some RNC money to open up one monument doesn't fool most veterans. Too bad it fooled you.

No Republicans aren't terrorists. But many of the conservatives on this board are no longer worth any discussion at all.

texxx, basso, eddiewinslow, and this bmd guy aren't serious nor do they even believe what they post.

texxx will pretend like the only things being closed down by the shutdown is the EPA and IRS. But he's well aware that the veterans affairs are entirely shut down, that cancer research is shut down, and thousands of people who contribute are out of work. But he cares even less about veterans than most of congress, and will ignore that just so that he can make posters who think he's serious angry. He's trolling.

There are conservatives on this board who are serious. But now the differences being discussed with many of them don't seem so wide as they once did. The differences between the reasonable Republicans and liberals on here are as wide as a football field. But that gap just doesn't seem as big since the ill-informed tea party Republicans have a gap the size of a marathon. And the trolls mentioned above will hold the same positions as the tea party whackos in order to better troll.

Maybe it's okay to argue with texxx just to see what he'll say, but it certainly isn't worth finding out any information from him. Most of the information he posts on here is wrong, and he doesn't believe anything he's saying anyway. The other guys just aren't interesting at all as well as being factually wrong about almost everything they post. It's getting kind of boring.

I don't think they are terrorists at all. But their tactics here boil down to economic hostage-taking.

It's a form of coercion that easily borders on the technical definition of extortion. They are threatening the free will decisions of another group by threatening (and now inflicting) a form of economic violence in unrelated issues or areas.

That's why the dims cannot give in. Even if i hated Obamacare (I'm more mixed on it), I would not want the dims to give in just due to precedent. We can't tell a party that they can just shut the government because they haven't won a debate through normal process.

e.g. I don't want the government shut down b/c I'm not getting my way in gun control or some other area. There are lots of policy areas that make me very unhappy, but I never want to see a party do this to achieve something i might like as policy. It subverts the entire system, and it is truly a form of extortion, in my view.
