at the beginning of the offseason, Carrol Dawson said that he was opeing up his wallet. While we weren't able to pull any big names, I am suprised with who we were able to get. What is yalls feelings about the offseason.
I look at it like what did we replace, and who we now have... Tito Maddox < Mike Wilkes--I think Wilkes is a better playmaker and better and setting his shooters up. ROCKETS BETTER. Juaquin Hawkins < Piatkowski--As much as I like Hawk, PK is a better shooter and a proven vet. ROCKETS BETTER. Terrance Morris < Adrian Griffin--Griff is a much better defender, and a bit scrappier. He is also a vet who knows what it takes in practice and in games. ROCKETS BETTER. Glen Rice < Jim Jackson--No explaination needed. Better defender, quicker feet, much better speed. ROCKETS BETTER. Jason Collier < John Amaechi--Simply put: ROCKETS BETTER. Torraye Braggs doesn't figure into the equation, because I think that once E. Griffin comes back (which he will, they won't trade him immediately), I think we keep Padgett and let Braggs walk. I like his hustle and attitude, but I just can't see him making the squad. Padgett is a good shooter, very coachable, and will bang a little bit...a la Mark Madsen. A very good role player to have on the team. All in all, we are much better than last year's team, and with Cato and the 4 and Yao stepping up to superstar status this year, it will be allllll good.
what about James Posey? Granted, he probably wasn't worth the money he was demanding, but him leaving did make the rockets worse.
Well, Mr Valedictorian I would love to read your speech that you will be giving at your graduation. Please, when the time comes, post it so we can all read it
well, I think its more like this: exception>Rice/draft choice Jackson > Posey Piatkowski > TMo A.Griffin > Hawkins Wilks > Maddox Amaechi > Collier under luxury tax > over the luxury tax JVG > RudyT Yao/Francis/Boki will all be better this year Taylor will be better this year, because of being in shape Cato is in better shape and better attitude, maybe able to play PF Cuttino, I don't know ... maybe he'll buy into giving Yao the ball We'll be better with Cato/Taylor starting over Eddie this year So, yes, we'll be measurably better THIS year. But, I think we lost future value in Thomas/Posey, Eddie's development is set back, and possibly lost for the future, and when it comes time to go for the championships, I would have rather had Rudy. For now, though, JVG is better at getting the young guys disciplined, and that's what we needed, which Rudy couldn't do. I'm less confident we are going to the championship as I was a year ago, though ... but, I DO believe we will be in the playoffs for a long time, as long as Yao and Francis are here. If Eddie get's his act together, or Yao becomes a totally dominating superstar, without the Chinese government wearing him out, then I believe we will be champions again.
exception>Rice/draft choice Absolutely no way in hell that a 6.5 million dollar trade exception is worth as much as the 10 million dollar cap relief that Rices contract offered plus one 1st round draft choice and two 2nd round draft choices! Jackson > Posey debatable at best. Posey has certainly had a better pre-season. Jackson has been better through out his career but he is entering his twilight while Posey should just be entering his prime. Piatkowski > TMo Pike is a better shooter than TMo and TMo is better at everything else. I do think Pike is a better fit for our team since there is no debate that we need more shooters. A.Griffin > Hawkins Once again very debatable. Both have little offense and both are very good at defense. Griffin is stronger but neither would see major minutes on this team IMO. Wilks > Maddox No argument from me here. Amaechi > Collier Ameachi is a fat tub of lard that does nothing to improve our team. I would definitely take Collier over him at their current stages of their careers. under luxury tax > over the luxury tax Once again I could care less about this fact. It does nothing to make me feel better about a loss. JVG > RudyT You need to save that statement until after JVG wins a couple of championships
When he was paying for his gas at 7-11, thats about the only wallet opening I have seen. The signings and trades they have done have minor.
thats funny....when did it become Carrol's wallet that had to be opened.. I dont recall hearing about him buying the team.
HAHA YEA AND CARROL MUST B BROKE AS A JOKE, CUZ WE SURE HAVNT OPEND THE WALLET WE ACCTULY HELPED PUT MORE $$ IN IT.
you totally misunderstood my point....big surprise there let me say it in a way that even the smallbus riders can understand... Carroll Dawson does not own the team. So, it cannot be his wallet that needs to be opened. the owner's name is Les "That Damn Yankee" Alexander. Since he owns the team, it is his wallet that would need to be opened . Oooo Kkkkk ?
Wow R2K lightin up bro, its called jokin around .... wheres your sense of humor ??? & were not dumb we kno Les owns tha damn team, chill out
