haha!! mean as game!! played it all throughout high school. still got boxes of cards left. prob need to sell some !!
There was that super (kinda goldish) monster where you needed like 7 cards or something to have it complete and be able to use it. Forgot the name but I had two of those and should've sold them, would've brought me like 200 bucks when the ish was at it's prime. Meeeh.....
This is true and the collector's value disappears completely once everyone's tired of the game. However, Wizards of the Coast, the company that produces Magic: The Gathering and, previously, Pokemon, is keen on keeping the collector's value up. Wizards of the Coast is practically an institute at this.
YGO's actually got a pretty interesting history. The manga on which the animated series is based on, originally, didn't really revolve around a card game but was based on assorted games the author was interested in. The card game was only introduced in later chapters but it proved popular to readers so the author featured more of it. The card game was actually, originally called Magic and Wizards, a reference to Magic: The Gathering and Wizards of the Coast - so, in a sense, YGO isn't just a shameless Magic clone but was directly inspired by it. The first animated series, called "season zero" by fans, actually follows the early manga more, with episodes that don't even feature the card game at all. This series is actually good. It's more episodic rather than featuring overarching plots like the more popular animated series but each episode is very entertaining.
Wow! What a name! I have to applaud the guy that sat there and thought of such an original name! Who was the equal to this Blue Eyes White Dragon? Could it be Big Golden Golem Thing?
