    Yahoo link to Story...

Why don't the Rockets ever give guys like this a chance besides the fact that we will not have a summer league team this summer...

We are looking for a shot blocker, are we not?

We're looking for a shotblocker that's proven he can play in this league.

    Not a sissy.

What makes him a sissy? The fact that he tried to play through a torn ACL, or that he has worked from the bottom up to get a chance to play again?

    Yeah, what a sissy.

I remember his stock plummeting prior to the draft. Poor kid. I also remember him having lied, or someone in his camp, about his true height. When they measured him up, he was more like 6'7" or 6'8" and many teams lost interest.

I'd like to see him make the team (GS) and get an opportunity to play. I hate to see kids misguided by those evil agents.

    6'7" with a 7'4" wingspan??? You are kidding me...

This guy can pick up something on the ground without even having to bend over.

There are reasons why 28 teams aren't picking him up. I don't want the Rockets to figure out why.

He's still 21. That's younger than Yao was when he came into the league.

I'd give him a chance if he really shines in the summer league. Another Ben Wallace? can't hurt to give him a chance for the minimum.

The kid's going to get black-balled by the league if he keeps hanging out with Kermit Washington. ;)

7'4" wingspan means when his arms are extended, they are 7'4". For him to pick up something on the ground without bending over, each arm would have to be 7'4". That would be crazy! :)

I was exaggerating ...but still...6'7" with a 7'4" wingspan is crazy...

Yeah and recently it's been shown that guys that are short for their position but very long (ala Tayshaun Prince at the sf, or Kirilenko at the pf etc.), can succeed in this league. I'm sure he'll get a camp invite. But first things first, we need a pg and a backup c.

Wow, really? Who's working on picking him up then?

There are 30 teams in the NBA, remember? :D

I wouldn't be opposed to giving the kid a shot, depending on how well he does during summer league. We need a backup center, and even though he is a tad bit short, as long as he can block shots and get rebounds then I don't think it makes a huge difference. HIs wingspan makes up for any height deficiencies as well.

You know, even Yao's wingspan is less than 7'4 IIRC.

but neither of those guys are short for their p[osition, they are just long. If he plays well in the SL give him a look.

Yao's wingspan is 7' 4 and 3/4". It's just shy of his height which is the barometer of the normal person's wingspan.

I really like teams that take chances on young players like him....the Rocks would be wise to look at him.
