I have seen statements like this more than a few times on this site. I have been alive 50+ years and never has anyone tried to "shove their beliefs down my throat". Folks may knock on my door or (years ago), approach me in airports, but they always politely departed once I told them "no thanks". As far as I know, none of my friends or family ever had "beliefs shoved down their throats" either.
I'm not very well versed in the Qu'ran but my understanding is that things like wearing the hijab isn't in the Qu'ran but is more of a cultural thing.
