I was watching the Saints/49ers game, and I heard the announcer say that Brooks and Vick are cousins. I thought that was kinda neat, especially since they play the same position. Are there any more relatives in the pro sports?
as for placekickers: the Gramatica brothers the Bahr brothers (Matt and Chris). and Dale Carter and Jake Reed are brothers. The McKinney brothers (Seth and Steve) Bruce and Clay Matthews edit: for some reason, this question stuck with me as i watched the Texans game and saw McKinney... i thought of a few more from present and past day... Hmm... I remember reading it on ESPN after Griffin was drafted, so I assumed it was legit. Maybe they were off, though...
Cris Carter(who looks like he's gonna sign with the Dolphins) and Butch Carter(former Raptors coach) are brothers.
They're not cousins, but if you want a Rocket connection, I believe Kenny Smith and Kenny Anderson are cousins (or so I've heard in the past). Lamond and Tracey Murray I think are cousins, too. From the Houston Chronicle : ------------------------------------------------ The Rockets' game at Milwaukee offered a chance for rookie Eddie Griffin to play against "cousin" Tim Thomas for the first time. There was just one problem with the family reunion: Griffin and Thomas are not related. "We've heard that we were cousins for a few years now," Griffin said. "It's pretty funny. We've talked about it. But we're not related." Griffin played for Thomas' AAU team in Philadelphia, and the two worked out together last summer. "We're good friends," Thomas said. "It's been fun for me to see him grow from childhood superstar to NBA player. I'm happy for him. He's definitely going to be a great player. If people want to say we're cousins, that's all right."
There are quite a few in hockey. The most famous would probably be the Sutter brothers, Brian, Duane, Daryl, Brent, Rich and Ron. None of them play anymore, but two of them are head coaches in the league. Of course Gordie Howe played on a line with his two sons, Mark and Marty, for the Houston Aeros in the WHA. In the NHL Peter Stastny played on a line with his brothers Marion and Anton for a while.
yep. there are lots. fedor/sergei fedorov wayne/brent gretzky (brent played for tampa a bit) mark/eric messier (i think they're cousins) daniel/henrik sedin (twins) russ/geoff courtnall back in the day rob/scott neidermayer pavel/valerei bure and the list goes on....
Charles, Major, Caldwell, and I think one more maybe Jamie Sharper (texans) and Darren Sharper (Packers) are brothers.
