Guys,

As a courtesy to the other members of the BBS, please try to include your source in your thread title if you get news from a media outlet. For example:

ESPN: Ewing Signs on to be Rockets Assistant
KRIV: Rockets Hire Jeff Van Gundy

Even ESPN: Oh crap! Ewing's a Rocket is fine.

It just helps to separate the rumors from the legitimate news stories. Thank you! :)

Hopefully, it will also help reduce duplicate threads that are started solely to have the breaking news that nobody else has posted yet.

Ah...........that is also dependent on people taking five minutes to scan the list of thread titles before starting a new thread.

You should make this a sticky or maybe include this in a GUIDELINES to posting threads.

One thing that also drives me crazy is when posters neglect to include links to the original articles in their threads.

These are people that get paid for what they write. Readers should show some respect by actually clicking on the original article (then again, if it's Insider, feel free to just tell us whatever it says :)).

Yes I agree. Too many people are writing thread titles that sound official, then you read them and realize it's just another opinion post. Now I like opinion post. I've written many myself, but I hate deceptive post titles that pretend to look official just so you will read them.

In the same vein, it would help if posters did some editing for their responses. Instead of re-posting the entire article or the post to which they are responding, it would be helpful to just clip the part to which the poster wants to respond so the points and counterpoints are clearer.

Also, I wish this trend of signing names at the end of the post would cease. The poster's name is already at the first of the post along with post counts, etc.

    I agree.

    Sincerely,

Seriously, how about if when you post an article, you include at least a sentence on your opinion of the article. Seems like some people just want to be the first to post it and don't even read it. Why post it if you don't have an opinion on it?

The reason I post my name at the end of anything I write is because I'm old enough to remember when people actually wrote or typed out letters.

It's always been customary to sign your name at the end of anything you write, whether it's a legal document, personal letter, or simply a note you passed to your girlfriend in junior high.

I see no reason why this longstanding tradition should change just because it's internet, and unless a mod request otherwise, all my post will have my name at the end.

The only reason I sign at the end of my posts is to help me remember my poster's name!
