Sampson might be getting his debut earlier than expected.

When Wandy walks guys (like he is tonight)... he is not a MLB calibur pitcher. He's trying to pitch away from contact (probably because he's allowed some unlucky hits this inning), but he doesn't have good enough stuff to just K everybody.

The biggest mistake of this inning was walking Lopez on 4 straight pitches after going 0-2 on him.

Never a good sign when the starting pitcher makes his first appearence in the game in the batters box... like Harang is right now.

If Wandy is afraid to challenge all MLB hitters who could potentially get a RBI hit off him, he shouldn't be a starter. He clearly has no problem going 0-2... but its a wild ride after that since hitters with even the worst of eyes (ie - Adam Dunn) aren't going to swing and miss at your mess out of the zone.

At least the club is going to get a look at Sampson tonight.

He couldn't find the strike zone right now with a Garmin & a map. And you think he's afraid?

Bruntlett might not be out there long if he doesnt make plays like his error to start the inning. I'd rather have Everett in with Bruntlett playing in the Outfield replacing Taveras for awhile.

Based on him going 0-2 to Phillips, Lopez, Aurillia and Kearns in the first inning.... but not retiring any of them (and walking 2 of them), I'd say he was pitching "scared."

Also, he didn't want to challenge Griffey, Dunn, or Kearns because he knew they could hit him... that's being scared too (and I guess he was right, because they did eventually hit him).

You can't have a pitcher who doesn't have confidence in being able to get guys out.

Ugh. I feel sorry for the people that actually paid to go watch this game. The Astros owe them a refund.

Sampson used to be a SS... he may be the best hitting SS this team has right now.

Atleast Sampson is doing very well. As for the rest of the team. They suck harder than the kiddos in the park. (at this point in time.....I do believe they will turn it around, and I hope it comes soon...)
