They give you a ticket for turning right on a red light?? It wasn't me who got the ticket, but I think this is a little ridiculous. Of course, I don't know if the person in question ran the red light or stopped, but a ticket for turning right on a red light????
you have to make a complete stop before turning right on a red light. Some of those cameras will get you if you don't stop completely 2+2=5
I was told by a TxDot employee that the cameras only snap images a few seconds after the light turns red, after that you can blow through it. IDK, still haven't tested an intersection.
Not always true. Saw two red light runners in the past 24 hours get snapped well after their light turned red. One of them nearly caused a horrific accident, if it weren't for the quick reflexes of the other drivers "in the box."
The problem is, I see a lot of people run red lights while turning right. This prompted me to think that it is ok if you slow down before turning. I didn't receive the ticket, so it's not a big deal to me. Just something I thought was interesting....I always thought the red light camera's were out to get people who ran red lights going straight or turning left.
A right turn on a red light needs to be treated the same way as a stop sign. You must come to a full and complete stop before making the right turn.
I don't like The Man, Big Brother or whatever. Whenever I see a red light camera or any camera for that manner I give it the finger. You know, my little way of saying FU to those who Oppress.
Have you noticed how fast the light changes from green to red. Usually a street light will stay yellow for awhile before it turns red but not the ones that are monitored with the red light cameras.
I'm pretty sure that no human beings actually look at the pictures. I think it's an entirely automated process and your gestures are probably never seen by anyone.
I kinda remember them saying they weren't going to ticket people running reds on right-turns when they first put the cameras in. Of course, it was only a matter of time.
yea, their rationale for these red light cameras are whack. there are studies done that prove that cameras don't prevent people from running red lights nor do they decrease the chance of accidents. having the yellow light on longer actually is a better deterrent to accidents.
I don't know why people who receive red light camera tickets complain, or are surprised. You don't get caught doing illegal things if you don't do illegal things. It seems pretty simple to me.
I got flashed for making a complete stop before a right turn. I never received a tick though, so I think that they must review it in some way (although I dont know how assuming that they only take, at most, a couple of pictures during the flash.
