i'm looking for a laptop and would like to spend no more than 600 bucks including tax. where is the best place to look for a deal like this? i've gone to all the big box electronics stores and have seen some pretty good deals, best buy had the most in that price range (3). also, what features should i look for, how much ram does vista require, and are there brands i should stay away from like say acer? i'm just using this computer for the very basic stuff so i don't want to spend much at all. thanks for the help, uou
Ugh. Stay away from HP laptops. Check out the Dell Vostro on the Dell Small Business website. They start at $399. Go with at least 2gb RAM (4GB if you can afford it) for Vista.
if you're looking for something to surf the web, email, process documents, watch videos, etc. then you might consider a netbook. NETBOOKS They are cheap and get the job done.
just bought a sony vaio from best buy for $650 (there was also a cheaper one). you might look into that. I like sonys better than Dells and Hp's
i definitely want to get a computer with a 15 or 17" monitor, those little PCs are cool, but i wouldn't want to use it all the time. i want to buy a new computer, so i'm not going to hit the list.
Office Depot. The new Compaq I'm typing on right was $600 list price, but that was without the $200 - $300 in rebates. High inventory now I think means good prices.
Acer Aspire One 8.9-inch Mini Laptop (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) - $399 http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-8...y/dp/B001EYVBE0/ref=pd_sim_e_2?tag=slickdeals
wait for black friday if you can and get something from Dell. I got a refurb Dell laptop awhile works great (battery life isn't great but I got the cheapest model). oh get Intel instead of AMD. I got AMD, i think it runs too hot.
