Hold on...I thought the problem with our backcourt was that there wasn't a true point guard...how does getting another shooting guard solve that problem?
yeah why not? or ricky davis but he doesen´t have that shooting touch tough.....but he sure can score
Well, Ray Allen is a pure shooter. A pure shooter can help this team. With Steve's penetration, Yao's inside presence and Ray Allen spoting up, the offense may not rely on as many isos. Of course why would the Bucks do this deal.
I'd do it but I doubt Karl and the Bucks would. Allen is at or near All Star level and makes about $7m more than Cuttino. I just don't think the Bucks would take Taylor or Cato (they have Johnson who's almost equal other than Cato's current season). Rice's short contract might interest them but I bet they wouldn't do the deal without Griffin. Is this a Top 4 WC team? 1) SF / Norris 2) Allen / Posey / Hawkins 3) Posey / TMo / Boki 4) Taylor / Cato / TMo 5) Yao / Cato
I agree. I'd give up the farm to bring in Ray Allen, but the Bucks are actually hunting for a playoff spot now. I doubt if the Bucks would let him go for anything short of Yao Ming. Great idea though!
You say you'd give up the farm for Ray Allen - well thats just what you would have to give up. The farm, the chickens and your loving dog. No way they part with RA.
For once, I actually am intrigued by one of Pasox2's many trades. This is the only trade I have EVER openly propositioned for since joining the BBS. If the Bucks tank again this year, Karl would probably be out and Milwaukee might consider rebuilding. So Allen could be had. Ulimately, I don't think we have anything Milwaukee wants. Mobley is attractive, but his contract will be up in a few years and hell me a max salary player thereafter. Plus, Mobley is probably not seen as the type of player you can build around. My guess is, Milwaukee would want cheap, young talent. The Rockets would have to start with a Mobley/Griffin/Rice package. Most would agree that Allen is the superior player to Mobley, although the gap is not astronomical by any means. Losing Rice is no big loss. I would be concerned about losing Griff as that would leave us VERY VERY weak at the 4. Also, while Allen is an all-star and what not, he will want his shots here. I feel that most of us are trying to get away from having too many players that need touches. Also, I am not sure about Allen's D. I have not seen him enough to know if he can D up on people. In the end, getting Allen is probably a pipe dream.
Did you call in the radio with this? I just heard it on 610. I don't think Allen is all that great, he's very good, but doesn't seem to have the fire and heart to win it all. I really want someone like Elton Brand, so the Rockets really become an inside team.
I would like this trade very much, IF: Rockets trades: Rice Mobley Griffin Norris Collier Bucks trades: Allen Kukoc Ollie In order to get Allen, I believe the Bucks would have to add something to get Rice, Mobley & Griffin to meet the salary cap requirements. Adding Kukoc would help us at both the 4 and the 3. He would also give us that outside threat we need. Norris would be an improvement as a back up point for the Bucks, and as long at Francis stays healthy, Ollie would work just fine since he is a passer and defensive minded gaurd. This trade could help both teams. It would be hard to part with Griffin though, one that we could regret later.
i know this will sound silly to you guys....but how is allen so much better than mobley? their numbers are pretty close. i don't get to watch allen play a lot, but the only major difference between allen and mobley is the 3pt% stat wise.
I'd do it in a second. Houston trades: SF Glen Rice (9.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.3 apg in 27.9 minutes) PF Jason Collier (3.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.0 apg in 9.3 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (18.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.0 apg in 41.9 minutes) Houston receives: SG Ronald Murray (1.9 ppg, 0.1 rpg, 0.3 apg in 3.5 minutes) PG Kevin Ollie (6.2 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.7 apg in 21.9 minutes) SG Ray Allen (21.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.4 apg in 35.7 minutes) Change in team outlook: -1.1 ppg, -3.7 rpg, and +3.1 apg. Milwaukee trades: SG Ronald Murray (1.9 ppg, 0.1 rpg, 0.3 apg in 3.5 minutes) PG Kevin Ollie (6.2 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.7 apg in 21.9 minutes) SG Ray Allen (21.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.4 apg in 35.7 minutes) Milwaukee receives: SF Glen Rice (9.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.3 apg in 31 games) PF Jason Collier (3.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.0 apg in 9 games) SG Cuttino Mobley (18.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.0 apg in 36 games) Change in team outlook: +1.1 ppg, +3.7 rpg, and -3.1 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED
Three words: Not gonna happen. Reason being that RT and CD love Cuttino way too much and think the world of him to trade him.
He can play with Sam Cassell. I don't see any reason why he should not be able to play with Steve. Talk about an inside-out game. Ming and (hopefully) a developed Griffin dominating the paint and kicking it out to Allen, who is the deadliest 3-point-shooter in the league. Francis driving and slashing and creating. Throw Posey and Hawkins in for perimeter defense and Taylor for the occasional offensive spark inside. What more could we want?
Do not compare Steve Francis with Glen Robinson. Glen Robinson is one of the most overrated players in the league. The problem with Francis is he tries to do too much by himself - score, pass, rebound. The only thing Glen Robinson ever did was complain about his shots. He is the ultimate one-dimensional player.
If you only need a shooter, why Ray Allen? Big contract, big name...big trouble. I'll go with Q or Redd rather than RA.
I love Ray Allen as much as anyone. However, I don't think he is better then Mobley to begin with. What exactly have the Bucks done with Ray? And they are in the Eastern Conf to begin with. Ray Allen has a contract for about 90 million I believe. Cuttino for 31 million. If you guys really think Ray is three times the player that Cuttino is then you guys have serious issues. He is a different type of player then Cuttino. He is a shooter as opposed to Cuttino who is scorer. He might fit better in our system, but I much rather have Cuttino at 30 mill then Ray at 90 mill.
