    Rasheed trade negated?

[Edit - Tried to rename thread to "Rasheed trade delayed", but site won't let me edit Subject]

Anyone else watching the Min/Det game on ESPN right now? They're saying that Rasheed Wallace and Mike James are not being allowed back in the game because of some issue with the trade! In fact, one of the announcers wondered that if the trade is negated and the Pistons win that it might lead to a Minnesota protest.

Anyone else better understand what the exact issue is?

Ok. They're saying its just an issue where the paperwork wasn't in on time for Rasheed and James to be eligible to play this game. Could still lead to a protest if Minn wins though as technically neither player should have played at all.

LOL! I love that Iverson speech. I think they played the whole thing on NBATV like two days ago. Classic.

Yeah, it's a good thing Detroit had a press conference announcing Rasheed was going to play and publicized it all day that he was playing. It's not like the league couldn't have said something or anything.

Sometimes this league is a joke.

Well, he did play. They didn't say anything about the second half...

What they're saying is Agent Verification or some other minor wrinkle, the deal is still processed, but Sheed shouldn't have played today, worst case scenario is probably a fine for the Pistons.

It would have been interesting to see what had happened if Detroit ended up winning. Considering Wallace/James was not eligible to play would Detroit have had to forfit the game? Would have been interesting.

Did you watch the end of the game, Deuce? Let's just say that wasn't going to be allowed to happen.

This whole situation stinks. Ainge has supposedly said he was told everything was done too, but Atlanta was told to hold everyone out. Somewhere along the way someone told two teams the wrong thing.

Like ChucklesG said, it looks like a fine for the Pistons:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1741183

The NBA might fine the Detroit Pistons for playing Rasheed Wallace and Mike James on Friday night before the trade involving the players officially cleared Saturday, sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein on Saturday night.

Wallace was cleared to play for the Pistons a day after being pulled from Friday's game because paperwork from the three-team trade involving the Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics had not been certified. Wallace and James, acquired by the Pistons on Thursday, were pulled at halftime of Friday's 88-87 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves and were not permitted to practice Saturday.

The holdup was the result of issues with paperwork for two of the players involved in the deal: Lindsey Hunter and Chris Mills. The NBA said Saturday the trade was "final and complete, and all the players involved were eligible to practice and play with their respective teams.
