Everyone knows that once we get the cap space, shandon is getting a big contract. Maybe we could work out the same thing with Rashard, and just give him more money next year. ------------------ Rockets games are like a box of chocolates, you never know whacha your gonna get.
The only problem with that is Seattle can easily match what we can offer, which I believe is 2.2 million or so. I have a question. How is it that Lewis is a restricted free agent? Is that something written into a contract? I'm just wondering why Mobley isn't a restricted free agent. ------------------ Just because you're white and play basketball doesn't mean you're a Matt Bullard clone, despite idiotic accusations to the contrary. visit www.swirve.com
Cat and Lewis were both second round draft picks in the same year and they both have the same status in regards to free agency. That is part of the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement Cat has bonded more in Houston than Lewis has in Seattle. That is why Seattle has more to fear than Houston in regards to losing their respective free agents. The first year in Seattle, Lewis had to listen to Gary Payton's mouth while CB4 razzed Cat here in Houston. There was a difference in the intent and tone of the razzing from Charles and Gary that Seattle may now regret. Getting Cat and Francis pointed in the right direction with the right attitudes may be Charles's greatest legacy in years to come for the Rockets. Mango ------------------ Eat more spinach! As Mango pointed out, both Mobley and Lewis are restricted free agents. The catch is that with restricted free agents, the players current team does have the right to match any offer, BUT they have to be able to make that salary work under the cap. Both Houston and Seattle are capped out, making what they can offer Lewis or Mobley very limited. The difference is that we believe that Mobley will sign for less in Houston and not test the free agent waters (by signing an offer sheet with another team). Lewis, on the other hand might be leaning toward taking another team's (it won't be Houston) money and leaving. ------------------
Thanks guys. The main reason I was asking is because the latest free agent list I saw had Lewis as restricted and Mobley as unrestricted. ------------------ Just because you're white and play basketball doesn't mean you're a Matt Bullard clone, despite idiotic accusations to the contrary. visit www.swirve.com
