I originally thought the Raptors would be an upset pick to make the playoffs in the east, but they have been an utter disaster so far. At 3-13, they currently have the second worst record in the NBA, and with the return of John Wall, they could easily have the worst record in due time. We owned the right to this pick. Does anyone regret trading it now? Thoughts?
Prelim thoughts on the 2013 class...is way way way below par...and by the looks of it this early in the season...Toronto may end up getting a top 3 pick(which i believe is protected)...
Okay. This is whats most important. If its not top 3, I agree. Actually this class looks pretty weak anyways. Just looking for thoughts on the matter...a top 2 or 3 pick would've been a nice steal for Lowry
Time will tell. Totally depends on the lotto and what players are available. However, the Rockets didn't have the ability of hindsight when they made the trade, so I tend to side with the FO on this one. Harden's inability to deal with lengthy defenders worries me though.
I guess they are goign full tank then to get a top 3 pick bargnani is trash, Landry field is lol, Derozan inconsistent as ****, Lowry can't carry them. Jonas is going well but still raw
Absolutely nobody looks better at the moment. The 2013 draft looks even worse than the 2011 draft. Mock Draft says Marcus Smart at #4, and they even compare him to James Harden, which is a freaking huge reach.
i would feel better if it was top 5 protected. you gamble with the chances that the 4-14 pick it turns out to be is better than harden.. lets say it is, he gets 3 years in okc then they move him because they cant afford him??
Harden is better than a potential #4 pick. However, we gave up Jeremy Lamb, the Dallas pick, and the Charlotte second rounder. It is still worth it. We had all those assets and needed to turn them into a star. It is not like any of those guys would have gotten playing time anyway.
A good issue to bring up. OKC drafts well, but the best case scenario for them is that they end up just being another factory for young talent they COULD go over the cap to pay but that their tight owner is unwilling to pay. There's no long-term point to it for them, only ever trying to fill out a roster on the cheap with rookie scale contracts.
harden = top 5 pick . we dont have to wait 2-3 years for our pick to grow into a star player. hardens already there
The first overall pick in 2009 was Blake Griffin, the second was (lol) Thabeet, and the third was James Harden. It's close between Blake Griffin and the potential he himself hasn't realized as a player yet either, but James Harden may literally be the best player from his draft class. A #1 overall type of talent. Of course Harden is worth it. If anything, the Rockets underpaid.
If someone offered us the #4 pick for Harden right now (I know that's impossible without knowing the draft offer, but whatever) would you take it? If not, then who cares where the Toronto pick ends up?
I think we gave up a freaking haul. I think it's easily twice what Orlando got for Howard. But we needed a young star. Kmart was expiring and Lamb wasn't a guarantee; nor will the Toronto pick be...even if it turns out to be #4. I think it was a good trade for both teams.
