That new trick daddy joint is tight... called lets go with Twista and Lil Jon. If you like Lil Jon yelling on the track you will like this one.

The Blackstar album is one of the best group albums in a while. Both Mos Def and Kweli are on top of their game lyrically.

Lately I've been on a lot of old school rap. Right now I'm jammin AZ's first album "Doe or Die". I love the old stuff like Black Moon, Tribe Called Quest, Main Source, Pharcyde, Gangstarr, Biggie, Wu-Tang, Camp Lo etc.....my list could go on for days.

I also love the old Geto Boys, Master P back in his "Bout, It Bout it" days, Outkast, 8 Ball MJG, Tela, Devin the Dude, Goodie Mob. I listen to a lot of stuff just depending on my mood.

    Thanks for all the suggestions!

Also, I could be way off, but I have noticed that there are basically three styles of rap:

    1. Angry, gangster-type -- lots of yelling and sometimes cursing. ie: NWA, Till I Collapse (Eminem)

    2. Traditional -- standard backbeats ie: Without Me (Eminem), 50 Cent, Notorious BIG, Nas

    3. Slower-paced, mellow -- usually with piano or some softer instrument playing in the background. ie: Dec.4th, Threat, Dead Presidents II, Justify my Thug, Dream (Jay-Z) Sing for the Moment, Cleaning out my Closet (Eminem), Regulate (Warren G)

I think I prefer the 3rd type. The lyrics are usually more interesting and I'm a sucker for anything with piano, etc... Plus, it makes great background music for sex.

Can't believe this is a Houston BBS, and nobody's mentioned Lil Flip. Also, as evidenced by my sig, I'm a fan of Youngbloodz.

Got some old Too Short from a friend of mine just the other day.

Too Short - Born to Mack
Too Short - Life is....Too Short

BOTH, awesome for cruising with funky basslines and dirty curse words!:)

Don't listen to the crap that's on the radio these!!! Complete BS with lack of lyrical content and creativity. I love rap but it has reached the level of embarassement. Every song is someone screeming at the top of their lungs like idiots saying nothing. Here are some "artists" to listen to: Tupac, Jay-Z, DMX, Slick Rick (Old School), Most Def, Nas, Kanye West, Outkast, The Roots, First 3 albums by Bone Thugs n Harmony, "Doggystyle" - Snoop Doggy Dog, "Tha Chronic" - Dr. Dre, these are just a few...Peace.

Been a pretty big hip-hop head for most of the new milenia.

Enjoy - Tupac, Eminem, D12, Kanye West, Outkast, Nas, Snoop, G-Unit, Obie Trice, Ma$e, Fabolous, The Roots, Jedi Mind Tricks, Jurassic 5, Hieroglyphics, Little Brother, Ludacris, WC, Method Man, Redman, Busta Rhymes, 213, Talib and Mos Def, Dr Dre, Twista, Lil Flip

Hate - Master P and his battalion of non-talent, Ja Rule and his clown squad Murda Stink, Cam'ron, most of Jay-Z's stuff I really don't care for.

I disagree, all artist have bad songs but Flip can be crazy most of the time especially if you've ever heard him freestyle.

Oh god! I can't stand Master P. But that's nothing compared to how much I hate his little son.

Has Romeo EVER had a hit song that wasn't completely ripped off of an older song? I honestly don't think so. And I've always been interested in what Romeo's gonna rap about when he grows up.

He sure as hell can't talk about the hard times he grew up through because the boy had a solid gold swimming pool when he was 2 years old...
