Well, we are closing in on training camp and the Rafer Alston front has grown quiet. I had expected him to be dealt already, but with his plummeting and/or non-existant value, it seems as if we are holding out to get something other than 2nd round picks(if we can even get that) or players that serve us no use. It would be odd however, to go into training camp with him, and I would have to guess that we will expedite him before then. Worst 3rd scorer in the history of the NBA for any legitamate team.
I've stated this before and I will say it again..... Rafer will be the starting point guard for the Rockets on Opening Night
I hope your are joking because all 30 NBA teams dont value Rafer's "greatness" like you. Ps. Rafer Alston is an insult to the word "playmaker". The guy can not even create for his own's shot.
I wonder what is going to happen to JL3 too... What happened to that trade with NO for the second rounder?
Rafer is a nice guy, and can play a ball, but we just have too many guards, hoping he can go to New York.
hahaha please tell me you're joking. If that is the case then I wonder why the rockets traded for Mike James, signed steve francis, and drafted Aaron Brooks. With Alston also getting into serious trouble throughout the offseason just adds on as to reasons why we should get rid of him. I think you would be an idiot if you can't see Alston being traded or waived really soon. Sorry to burst your bubble my friend, but there is no way in hell this guy will start for us or even come off the bench. The guy is trash and should just stick to streetball...
You are right, he may have been the worst 3rd scorer in history, but there is no reason he should have been in that position. Clearly this year, if he stays a rocket, he wont be asked to shoot or score much at all so he should play better in his role. I still think he will be with the team at the start of camp. Like you said his value is extremely low right now. Why not hang on to him in case one of our points gets injured or more importantly another team weak at the point suffers an injury or bad play (Mia, Cle, Ind). If anything waiting a few months could net us more value as other teams get desperate for a serviceable PG. The drawback would be that he takes a roster spot causing us to lose or trade away someone like Luther, Novak, or Snyder.
Miami just submitted Charle Bell an offer sheet so the Heat probably won't be desperately shopping for a PG - assuming a trade with the Bucks goes through or they don't match.
You must admit neither one of his arrests seem like a big deal. With the parking attendant it doesnt appear he threw any punches or made any serious threats. We all know if it wasnt Rafer, but instead one of us that did all that, the parking attendant wouldnt be pressing charges. With his second arrest, the allegations are severe, but from what has been said by witnesses and the club owner, Rafer doesnt appear to have done anything. I imagine if a NBA player slashed some guy's neck in a crowded night club, someone would have seen something or it would have shown up on the video. Im not saying its okay he was arrested twice, but it does seem he is actually being bashed more then he deserves for his actions this offseason.
he probably will be kept as insurance, and honestly he is the only real pg on the team. It makes no sense to give him away
1. They can't give him away, except for another negative value player. 2. What makes him such a "real pg"? The guy has never met an outside shot he wouldn't take, and he can't make a layup. If it takes having a fake PG to have those two things then I am happy to have one.
Stop right there!!! This is the police. "Joel.......this is your mother, honey.............put the bong down and get off the babysitter"
