Point taken but irrelevant. He cannot play the PF position in the manner in which the Rockets are looking for: he is not a physical, inside player at all. He's a soft, offensive minded, foul prone, streaky 3 point shooter who doesn't rebound. Think Keith Van Horne and you'll get the idea. When he was here in Dallas, the "plan" was to have his outside shooting force likes of Shaq to have to come out on the perimeter. Nice plan, only he shot so poorly and defended so badly that he was always in foul trouble and wound up sitting on the bench. Look at it this way: The Mavs who were DESPERATE for inside play couldn't wait to unload him on the first sucker (Ainge) who came along.
Like Hillboy, I am not terribly enamored by LaFrenz but, if he comes cheap, then he would be a benefit. Do you think Boston would trade Ricky Davis since they added Gerald Green and Ryan Gomes? Davis is a little wacko but can be a solid offensive and defensive player. Throw in Beaumont-native Kendrick Perkins and we have PF, backup C and SG-SF greatly improved.
How about Raef LaFrentz? (If he's available) Just saw an article from CBS Sportsline.com that Raef LaFrentz may be available if he's waived (due to the new collective bargaining agreement). link: http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/8609786 I think if he's available, the Rockets should consider getting him, he is definitely better than Antoine Walker... Raef LaFrentz Position: Forward/Center Height: 6-11 Weight: 245 lbs Born: May 29, 1976 He averaged 11.1 points 6.9 rebounds 1.24 blocks in 27.5 minutes a game in 04-05. Plus he can shoot the threes, seems like what we've been looking for. What do you think?
Thanks for the reply NIKE. In other words we don't have any idea what these guys will cost yet. In you second scenario, we could radically overhaul our team with waiver casualties at a very cheap price. Thhis summer could very interesting. I wonder, is this the NBA's way of leveling the playing field somewhat?
