I really can't believe that you think all the founding fathers were Christian, that is simply ridiculous. I don't know of any other way to put it... Some were, some were not. And that was BEFORE Charles Darwin came around and proved that we share a common ancestry with apes...
Alright, whatever, what are you saying, that because Darwin proved we share a common ancestry with apes that there is no god
I really can't believe that for someone who thinks these guys were a bunch of agnostic/atheists, you don't know that 52 of them were devout christians and the other 3 believed in the bible
False... Some of them were, some of them were not. Above all they were secularists. Some of our founding fathers(Such as Thomas Jefferson and James Madison) despised the church, they believed it robbed the individuals right to think and believe freely. Thomas Jefferson referred to the clergy as a "form of tyranny over the mind of man..."
Where did I say that? I don't know where you are getting this stuff... It's hilarious though...
Creation is without a doubt a possibility, but a god in the sense that a Christian views it, is about as likely as Aphrodite...
Did you even read what the hell I just said, just because they are a "secularist" doesn't mean they weren't Christians. They understood the separation of church and state by legal means. Yes, TJ and JM despised the church of England because of all the corrupt crap that came out of it, the church of england was the law of the land. And that's why TJ referred to the clergy as corrupt and powerful over individual rights. None of this means that the 52 out of the 55 signers of DOI were not devout Christians, do you want a list?
They despised churches in general, because they silenced free thought. It is debatable to whether they were devout Christians or not, and beside the point. "As much as no one in the msm wants to say it, this is a christian nation based upon christian values." Christian nation? No Christian values? No such thing exists... Some secularist Christians helped found the country? Yes...
Back on topic, because saintcougar is just a poor, confused sucker who doesn't really even understand his own positions (calling, for example, for religious freedom for Christians and skepticism and even scorn for Muslims) and doesn't merit the response he's gotten... CNN ran a report last night on a study in which children, age 5 or so, were shown pictures of five cartoon children with no distinguishing characteristics other than the color of their skin. On the left was a drawing of a white child; on the far right was a black child. In between were shades, from not quite white to not quite black. They were asked to identify the "good child," the "bad child," "the mean child," the "nice child," etc. Almost across the board, children of all races ID'd the white child as good, pretty, nice, the color they wanted to be and the vast majorities also associated the black child with bad qualities: "ugly," "mean," "bad," etc. This was true of both white and black children and in virtually all cases the parents were shocked by the results. When asked why they answered that way, they inevitably said, "because he's white" or "because he's black." It was pretty harrowing. Racism doesn't just still exist in this country; it is ingrained in our youth. People who call for combatting racism by pretending it no longer exists or that we already live in a color-blind society are fooling themselves. Even small children believe white=good and black=bad. We have a long, long way to go in changing ideas about race in this country.
This nation was not built on scripture. It was built mostly around Greek and Roman ideas of Democracy and a Republic. This is what Thomas Jefferson wrote and it even has something in regards to Islam in it. It is from Article 11 of the Tripoli treaty Do you understand what that means? Whatever religion the founding fathers had or didn't have doesn't mean that our nation was founded on the bible. It wasn't.
right. Muslim/Christian tension is gonna be resolved here shortly. Because the past 2000 years never happened.
