quick magnet question

    if i stick a magnet onto my computer case, will it mess up any of the components inside? I don't know jack about electronics. thanks

    A refrigerator magnet shouldn't do anything (at least in the short term), but a real magnet could do some damage right away. Hard drives store data magnetically and are very sensitive. I wouldn't recommend putting any magnets on your case, but like I said, you can probably get away with a fridge magnet.

    Eh i did it once and funny colors came onto the screen and i dont remember what happend after that.

    The CRT works because of an electron gun puting a magnet near a crt will change the magnetic field distorting the picture.

    Yeah I did it too, I put a magnet above my TV, and I think with the time come the original colors, I dont remember exactly what I did.
