I tried mozilla and I didnt like it. It wouldnt let me click myh middle mouse button and hold it down to go down pages quickly. Also, it took atleast 5 seconds longer to load than IE.

    vengeance??

    any takers on this question.

    DrewP,

Do you realize you can eliminate Pop-Up windows with it? That ROCKS!! That alone got me to switch. IE has just way too many viruses now, too. All the autoload email viruses are IE holes.

as for scrolling rapidly down a page, just hold down the Space Bar for the same effect.

You probably already know this, but Mozilla is not a company. It is an Open Source project that does strict Javascript and HTML...by the book. Netscape uses Mozilla now, so I'm not sure how to gauge "market share."

Mozilla also has a real javascript debugger, which is very handy if you do javascript development. Once they finally got the 1.0 version out, I switched. It rocks. You have to install a helper app for d/l-ing plugins, but that's not too bad.

All this is waay worth it to stop Pop-up Windows. It's sooo cool to rid your life of that spam. No more pop-up windows. It really works.

Can you hear this wav file playing right now, using Mozilla? You can hit Reply w/Quote to look at my embed code.

This has nothing to do with mime types and helper applications, right? embedded wav's should just play.

    <EMBED SRC="http://www.jodi.com/images/chicketychina.wav" AUTOSTART="true" HIDDEN="true" LOOP="true"><NOEMBED>..</NOEMBED></EMBED>

Yeah heyp, I was being somewhat facetious, though I appreciate the merits of the program.

It's just when I have to code servlets... numbers like Mango's:
seal any deal on functional specifications.

I think it's cool that you're supporting the other browsers (hell I am using Netscape right now) but that whole 'sphere of influence' thing is frightening contractually. If my code incidentally works for other browsers, I'm stoked.

ps, what's that cool-ass browser that works as an mdi and is ultra-light? Is that Opera? Hmmm... I should play/download when I get a chance...

You mean applets, right? servlets should not be effected by choice of browsers.

look at it this way, if you can get your javascript and html code to work in Mozilla, with its strict compliance, it will work in all browsers. And if you get applets to run on standard java platforms, they should run on all.

Why are you testing with Microsoft? They break the code by being non-compliant and also by covering up your errors, like missing tags. Just test with Mozilla, and it will work on Microsoft....lowest common denominator type of approach.

heyp -- I will take a look at it when I get home tonight. I have mozilla as my browser here at work and at home, but in Windows NT, Windows Media Player (for wavs) just crashes on startup.

Mozilla rules! Probably the reason that wavs don't play automagically is because the program will need to be set up specifically in the preferences. It tends to work like that with a lot of things, as it is so multi-platform with an emphasis on modularity.

The coolest thing about mozilla (other than its customizability and rendering speed) is that it's 100% standards compliant. None of this M$ BS where a page works on one browser but not on another. I loathe websites that I can only view in M$IE and not in other browsers because it's all proprietary code.

I do not hear anything with Mozilla. I do hear it with Konqueror, though it uses an external application.
