If/when he gets the micro fracture surgery, how long is he expected to be out for? or when would he be able to return to playing? I'm just curious

Depends on the type of surgery? If it is the microfracture surgery he will need a full year to get healthy and with TMac's rehab it could be a year and a half, which puts him ready for the end of season next year 2010. So, you have seen TMac play his last game in a Rockets uniform against the Bucks.

It largely depends on the person; not all MF surgeries are created equal. Prognosis seems to be anywhere between 2 months and never. Not very helpful, I know, but it's not a question that can be easily answered.

Well, since its tmac, I was expecting at least a year personally, but I wasn't quite sure on the details of the actual injury, I just know he's a puss

It doesn't even matter, even if he healed stockton-fast, he will have lost so much muscle by next season due to inactivity, that you'll wish he was gone. Even if Tracy dominates
the beginning of next season, he will still have one of the most tradeable contracts in the NBA.

Also depends on whether after the surgery TMac's "my-knee's-still-not-OK" mental problem still lingers on. If yes, nobody knows how long he needs to come back to play?

I think he will be back around the same time the construction on the Gulf Freeway around Webster is completed.

Damn I just realized, thats not good...

Man if tmac has already played his last game here it would be embarrassing if our last memory of him here was a missed dunk

I remember watching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar his last year before he retired... he just kept hitting the front of the rim with his sky hook...

really the year before.... he was doing just fine... and remember thinking 19 years in the league(me watching 11 of them)... retire when your still on the top of your game....

I would like him to play in the midway throughout the next season because I think he should be just fine by then.

If he hurries he might finish like Gilbert Arenas who came back last year and is inactive for two years in a row.

I don't want to bother and think about it.

It's time to move on without Tracy McGrady, I wish him the best.

Its foolish to think you will ever see McGrady in a Rockets uniform ever again. Its quite obvious the organization has turned thier back on him. At this point, even if he came back, Im pretty sure the FO would Marbury him.

I am doubtful of the surgery.
I get some news from the sohu sport. T-mac injurious but it is not necessary to do that kind of surgery. T-mac told the media about the surgery to acoid trade-off.

Doctor's can recommend an alternative to surgery, but it's only a recommendation. Microfracture is an option and its clear by now thats what McGrady wants.

Morey did very recently say, many other players in the NBA, play through the same problem McGrady has.

So if the Rockets push for a non-surgical option. One option I know of is injecting every 6 months this clear gluey substance that acts like substitute cartilage.

I think he goes under the knife on Sunday.

If Tmac does the surgery when there are other options, it sounds like he is giving up on his career and really feels he has enough money to live happily ever after.

I can't really see him giving a serious effort to get back to his old self after serious surgery like that which most NBA players that have gone through it say that they are never the same again.

I'm sure he would play somewhere else again, because someone will be willing to continue to pay him hoping that he can return to a shadow of his former self. It's really sad. I hope he doesn't have the surgery and learns a way to manage the pain in the condition that he is in. With his fragile body and bad healing attributes, microfracture surgery seems like a game ender to me.

That means he is NOT giving up on his carrer. That means that he looks in the future and wants to earn money in 2010/2011

I guess what I meant to say was that he is giving up on being a superstar anymore. I don't think he wants to retire, he can still make money from the NBA even after surgery. But I think as a competitor, he should realize that with his injury and recovery history, and the history of recovery for NBA players for this type of surgery, the chance of him playing at superstar level does not sit well for his future.

I'm one that hopes he passes on the surgery and figures out a way to manage the pain and play through it until he can strengthen the knee more.

Obviously it is a VERY serious operation and TMac knows that. But his cartilage loss is occuring on non weight bearing part of his knee which means it is not like Mashburn's surgery and he can come back from that.

Nobody is saying he will be what he once was. Nobody expects that. But T-Mac when healthly is still a great player.
