Some of the music on Dexter's Laboratory is from Skip Heller. Heller is often compare to Frank Zappa.

Heller's recordings at times lean to the classic cartoon arrangements of Raymond Scott (think "Powerhouse" and Bugs Bunny). In fact, you can hear more of Heller's work on The Cartoon Network, in the upcoming Flintstones On The Rocks animated release and the series Dexter's Laboratory.

Composer/guitarist Skip Heller is regularly compared favorably with Sun Ra, Frank Zappa, and John Zorn. His new release, "Homegoing" sends him back to his soul-jazz roots. But this isn't your dad's Jimmy Smith records. He puts an extremely personal and stylized stamp on the classic Hammond B3 organ combo, combining groove tunes, standards, originals, and even a swipe at Gustav Mahler with angular surprises, not the least of which is the appearance of Grammy-winner Dave Alvin on vocals for two cuts.

"In an era when so much music is rigidly and narrowly programmed, it's nice to find someone with the vision and ability to touch so many bases. And it all belongs in Heller's world."

I was thinking that maybe a more suitable theme for Dexter's Laboratory would be Zappa's "t*tties N Beer"

    ;)
