I was listening to the Morning show with john and lance, they were ripping rockets fan for being awful. I do agree with this completely. Ive been to games off and on throughout the season and the crowds are dead. So my question is whats our problem? Shouldnt we be the sixth man on the floor? Is this why we have a disappointing home record? Can it be solely blame on the players? Arent we suppose to be motivation for our players to push that extra step? Anyways whats everyones take on that?
This team does not have CHARISMA. If they played every game like the last LA game or the Wolves game, I believe that the crowd would grow and become more enthusastic. As it is, their offense is so tortured, so painfully slow to develop, and they miss soooooo many shots, they are a team tailor made for masochistic fans. Most aren't. Fans who pay "big bucks" want an up and down, high-flying, high-scoring, entertaining style of play, like the Mavs, who, incidently, don't seem to have trouble filling the seats with rowdy, excited fans. The truth hurts.
Its not the crowd thats dead, its the team. If the team gave the crowd something exciting to cheer about then you would hear the crowd. I my self have some games and at everyone it seems that the fans are anxious to get into the game but as usual this team's boring basketball doesn't allow it.
Do you think it will help them cut their turnovers if we start cheering for them? Their million $ salary should be enough to motivate them.
You can't blame them. Most Rox fans probably follow the team by TV or online. The Rox are fighting for a playoff spot with 2 All stars. Yet, they're near the bottom of the league in home attendance. For road attendance, they rank 8th with numerous nat'l tv appearances.
once they win the playoffs, people will come. Thats just the way it is in Houston. We sold out like 4 years in a row after the 93 season. It'll happen again if we compete in the plaoffs....
dude, there are like $13 tickets available for every game. Plenty of them too. And parking is free.....what more do u want?
1. the team is less than inspiring; 2. the crowd is mostly corporate; 3. a portion of the crowd sits in the club sections, away from the action of the game; 4. there are 82 games in an NBA regular season...from night to night, even the players "take games off." should we expect more of the fans? 5. there are 82 games in an NBA regular season...and more teams make the playoffs than don't...there is zero urgency to the average NBA regular season game.
i can and do blame the fans. get out there and boo your ass off at least. sitting around and complaining about wether or not we're gonna make the playoffs doesn't help much. the nets are moving because they have the second lowest attendance in the league and they obviously have a good team. you can partly attribute the isolated location of their arena to the lack of turn out, but houston does not have this excuse. i guarantee you when the nets move to brooklyn you will see ferocious fan support. when i was growing up there wasn't a damn thing in downtown houston, but now there are all kinds of things to do before and after the game. get off your lazy asses and get to the game, put your money where your mouth is, damn!
Thegary is right. I am so sick and tired of the fans at Rockets games, from the lack of cheering to the fans leaving early. Everybody has this "don't blame me attitude", well you know what, I do blame you. I'm glad 610 is atleast starting to call out these so called fans. The Rockets and the fans represent this city, both have a job to do and one can't work without the other. Since when does being a fan mean, "make it to the playoffs and maybe I'll come out." or, "13 dollar tickets are to high for me." You know what if that's your attitude, I don't want you as a fan.
did i say that? don't be asinine, houston is the fourth largest city in the richest country on the planet. some can't afford rockets' tickets, granted, but those who can't have bigger problems than not being able to attend a basketball game and causes and solutions to this problem are topics for another forum. i apologize to anyone on this site who can't afford tickets, but i think most can afford $13 bucks from time to time.
I can buy a 30 dollar Astros ticket and sit right behind the astros dugout just a few rows up. If i were to buy a 30 dollar ticket to a rockets game i wouldn't even be close.
JPM maybe you would like the Rockets to add an extra 20,000 seats so we can match the size of Minute Maid, and still maintain the same revenue, or maybe we should just slash the price of tickets so we can't afford to put a good team on the floor, and just put an NBDL team out there.

We get these complaints all the time on the BBS, and I'll say the same thing every time. If the fans aren't showing up, it is the Rockets' fault. Maybe it's the offense or the lack of playoffs or the losing. Maybe it is the bear or the PA announcer. It doesn't really matter. When it is the fans shelling out the money, it is the franchise that needs to provide the product. Why should the fans have to produce the product and the money? If you want the stadium full, give away tickets. Or stop selling tickets to people who won't show up. Can't afford that? Then stop b****ing about attendence. I'm glad to see Tim and the players have for the most part refrained from pointing the finger. But, I know a couple of the players have expressed disappointment that more people haven't shown up for games. Francis makes over $10 million this year. Buy up the tickets to a game and given them to Inner City Youth or Boys and Girls Club or something. That'll guarantee you a pretty rowdy game.

The Rox style of play is no different than the Knicks of the 80's and 90's and yet their fans are extremely vocal and supportive. Support has *nothing* to do with style of play. It has to do with players being committed to doing whatever it takes to win such that the fans feel proud to be associated with the team.
Lot of hypocrisy here... First "fan" by definition means: Supports the team, likes the team, those who root you one, cheer you on, share in the victories and defeats with emotion etc. So before you can qualify you need to do something. Go to the game when you can, watch them on tv Without any emotion a better term would be interested observer. Fan is much more than this. It involves the heart not just the head. So some cities have rabid fans who are borderline hysterical, other cities have boisterous fans who are into it, other cities have supportive fans who can cheer and boo and clap. Most cities have a mixture. But to just go to a game as a casual attendee for the entertainment or a night out is not a fan. If you're a fan you know it. You care about this team. I live out of town. I can't afford to go to many games. But when I do go I like it. I watch all I can on tv. Hate to miss a game. And I read all I can on the team. So what are you a fan or just an interested party?
