If you cut a player, I think I remember Haven saying you are stil responsible for thier salary. Is this true if someone else picks them up?

The salary is decducted as one lump sum for the remaining value of the contract.

    What does that mean?

If A Jones, CF, has two years left at one million per, and I cut him, I take a two million hit this year and no hit next?

Yup. Exactly right. Mechanics are slightly different though (as I understand it) - instead of paying it out in salary through the year, haven will simply take the $2M immediately out of your cash reserves.
