Newsday - Quentin Richardson is available and teams around the N.B.A. are aware that the swingman and three-point gunner can be acquired via trade. Denver has been mentioned as a possible destination because Nuggets assistant GM Jeff Weltman drafted Richardson. Plus the Knicks are interested in backup point guard Earl Watson. But the players’ salaries don't match. The Knicks would need to take back additional salary commitments to make it happen. I think he could be useful, he can add athletik-cism to the two-guard. I think he needs a new start. He thrived knocking down wide open threes for phoenix-Mac and Yao could get him some good looks. He has a big-ass salary though don't he?
How about we just get anderson and barry back who make a combined nothing compared to Q. He is not useful enough for his salary on this team
I can see him in Denver. They still need a two that can run and hit the 3. Voshon Lenard + Earl Watson? Maybe Nene. Not a fit for Rockets.
I suppose, although i did a check at realgm and a DA+Moochie for Q trade works out...is that correct because i could swear Q had a big contract. This guy did average 14+6 for the Suns, and even though playing with Nash could get any fool some points-he also averaged around 16pts for the Clips as well. I'm sure he's not that crap-just having a rough time in NY.
Im sure it works contract wise but why trade two guys with expiring contracts for a guy who still has 4-5 yrs left on his deal at around 7 mill per. This offseason we will be rid of Mooch's contract and if we actually waste that chance by aquiring a guy who is nothing special it would be a big mistake
On the one hand he's a Knick, but on the other hand he's not old as dirt so there is a 50-50 chance Jeff want's him.
He is a terrible defender and is only an offensive minded player...Van Gundy would not want him IMHO. Maybe if they took JH's contract and gave us david lee or channing Frye (which i really doubt they would do) then i wouldnt invest in his contract
I agree with you bigbodymoe. For as long as DA and Mooch's contracts lasted, it would be worth it, but after that--a waste of money for the talent. We can get more with the money after this year.
like we need a guy who doesn't play defense, rebound, pass, and chunks up a bunch of ill advised threes.....i rather lose with the guys we have now than waste money and lose on him.
Go back and watch some old school Q from when he played with the Clippers. He's an adequate defender (JVG improves that), he can create his own shot, can post smaller 2s, and can nail open 3s. While his contract is large, he might be the best shot we have to grab an available 3rd option (and SG) who fits nicely. That is, of course, if we can unspoil him from the role he had in PHX.
yeah..he's a good scorer. but whywould we want to acquire again another injury prone player. We have already one in Anderson...
I do remember THAT Quintin Richardson. he actually used to be the number one guy i wanted on this team to play with yao, francis and cat. but he doesnt do those things anymore. the knicks, if anything, need just that ( a big guard/forward who can do the things you listed) but if larry brown can get it out of you, van gundy definitely wont...you add that to the fact that his contract is horrible...and you get a big NO as far he is concerned
No thanks. Derek Anderson, Head, and Barry, I like better. Don't forget how well Derek Anderson was playing those few games with Mcgrady back.
I worry about his back. If the Knicks want him out so quickly they probably have a good idea about the extent of his health problems.
Lee isn't going to get traded. Ariza has recently fallen out of favor with Brown, so he might be available. He's a former second round pick who's got some potential and at 6-8, he could fill in nicely behind T-mac. Maybe we could get Q-Rich and Ariza for some combination of Moochie, DA, Wesley or picks. It's obvious that Knicks are very poorly constructed and Brown is an idiot for leaving Detroit to work for a bigger idiot Thomas.
