Tony k on PTI just ripped yao ming by saying that shaq doesnt have to face that many big men in the playoffs because yao and the rockets have never and wont get out of the first round. He says it is of no worry to shaq.

Just like Michael Jordan wasn't concerned about having to go against Houston in the NBA Finals.

Looks like he retired part 1 just in time. :D

That's a good thing for Shaq?

Like Yao, Shaq plays his best against opposing big centers. He's hoping he can face Yao in the playoffs.

Ugh these multiple threads in the GARM that keep popping up are annoying me... WHO CARES what PTI thinks!

but Phoenix-Houston matchup would be sweet in 1st Round.

    Just another hater...

A Yao-Shaq battle would be great in the Playoffs, but I really don't want to face the Suns in the first round (that would be tough). a WCF would be the best :D

As a Rockets fan i have to accept all the criticisms toward this team.... Until they can prove themselves otherwise then there is no need to defend their response... I'm hoping the Rockets can go all the way....

how can you say he's wrong? has this team gotten out of the first round with yao ming?

do we have a great record that should make him say otherwise?

you have to prove you can win. all this complaining isn't going to do anything. the rockets win and everybody will eat crow. if not, then they can't do anything but keep hearing these types of criticisms.

I dont think it was meant as disrespect to Yao but to the Rockets in general. This year I have felt a general feeling that after Tmac didnt step up for the Rockets last year in game 7, the media doesnt feel the Rockets are serious contenders because TMAC. I love the Rockets and always will but there right. Tmac has done nothing but prove peoples opinions of him year after year. I mean what if we could have gotten the TMAC that dunked on Bradley in the playoffs a couple of years ago every game? Its not going to happen though so in my opinion is we should trade him in the off season. I wish TMAC would get back that killer instinct or something but I think the Rockets will see it through to the end of the year and move him in the offseason.

Have you seen anything from TMACs time in Houston that makes you think he will lead the Rockets anywhere? Its not all Tmac fault but He makes a majority of money on this team, and if he cant get it done we need to go another direction. Dont get me wrong if TMAC played hard he could lead this team to a championship but I dont think that is going to happen.

I am not a TMAC hater. I just think for what he brings and the money he makes it is not enough. I would much rather see us get a Deng, Gordon, Nocioni combo for what Tmac brings. But hey if Tmac shows this half of the season some fire and will to win I am all for keeping him.

deng + gordon + nocioni -> that's 3 starters playing 3 different positions. obviously you can fill a lot of holes for tmac.

that's why the bulls didn't even consider that deal for kobe and tmac is not kobe.

i think EVERYBODY on this board would make that trade if the bulls offered that.

but the problem for this team is beyond tmac, and his injuries are a huge problem b/c i think it does prevent us from getting better seeds that we really can. yao didn't shine last yr like i thought he would either. when tmac struggled on the road in utah, i thought yao would take it to another level and make a name for himself but he didn't. our 2 stars combined haven't dominated TOGETHER like they should in their 4 years together. hopefully, under adelman, they can.

Sometimes you guys are just looking for any chip you can stick on your shoulders. Jeeze, Tony isn't a fan of the Rockets, why is he supposed to look past the recent history and the teams current standings and believe in them like a fan would that they are going to do something in the playoffs?

What can we say to him? Nothing... Shaq won champions and Yao didn't even get out of the first round yet.

The playoff series against Mavs and Jazz were the biggest chokes ever in the history of NBA. The Rockets were up 2-0 in both series and still some how lost both series (against the Mavs it was the first time a NBA team lost despite being up 2-0). We can blame JVG, Tmac, crappy bench players but we can't blame Yao? Who turned the ball over gazillion times. Who went soft in the most important moments of his career. Who didn't fight off his fatigue and grab a defensive rebound in the last minute of the game. Get real, Yao deserves to be criticized.

Ah...don't let the criticism rattle ur temperament. Let stand tall like "Giants" while taking the criticisms and because victory is sweeter when overcoming all the odds. Better flying under radar than being the top dog everyone wants a shot at. Besides we have much to prove and improve.

nobody on our team has shown that. but hopefully together with adelman, they can change that.

jvg was too much of a disciplinarian that no one can really lead on this team. yao never became vocal until this year. rafer was never freelancing at some points in games until this year.

tmac might not be able to lead, but he will perform in the playoffs. he always has. we just hope collectively as a TEAM that they can get it done.
