The game comes out next week, although some of you were lucky enough to get into the Beta and try it out already. As with the MGS4 thread, I will post a link to the NeoGAF Official Thread for Resistance 2 (also created by BruceLeeRoy), partly because of how great that thread is...and partly because I'm lazy. So you can check out that thread for all the "official thread" type details for R2 (release date, collector's edition, etc.). Here's that thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340358 Here are a few extras though: IGN video review: <embed src='http://videomedia.ign.com/ev/ev.swf' flashvars='object_ID=14211237&downloadURL=http://ps3movies.ign.com/ps3/video/article/924/924304/Resistance2Review_102708_flvlowwide.flv&allownetworking="all%"' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='433' height='360'></embed> Additionally, NeoGAF member TTP has been recording lots of gameplay of R2 and uploading them to Gamersyde. So far, looks like the first ~30 minutes or so have been uploaded (some more videos will be up later apparently). Curiosity got the better of me, so I checked them out despite spoilers. Lots of new things we haven't seen before, even though these levels have been shown (at least the first one). Can't wait to play the 2nd level shown. Here's that link: http://www.gamersyde.com/news_7279_en.html
SWEET I need to level up a lot. The medic class is crazy, I can go 50 kills 0 deaths with ease, could do more if I didn't care about helping my teammates out with health regeneration.
The next 3 SP videos were posted at Gamersyde: http://www.gamersyde.com/news_7282_en.html Lots of good stuff, although I wish I didn't see it. Damn curiosity. This includes the part of the game involving this scene: Which is pretty ridiculous in-game, especially since you're busy fighting hordes of Chimera with that still going on. Granted, you can notice the short-cuts/"tricks" they used, but still very impressive (as are a few other things in the videos). Boss battle shown as well at the end of the 6th video, which seems pretty intense. And if there will be several more like that in the game... Also, the next 1UP Show will feature R2, along with Fallout 3 and LBP. They're having problems uploading it though, so it might be not be up until tomorrow.
I think it was great. Easily the best PS3 game at launch, and it probably stayed the best for quite a while. I think every PS3 owner should give it a shot, especially if they like FPS/shooters. Of course, I may be a little biased given my interest in R2, so of course I'd speak highly of it. I think I made a review for it in the CF Reviews thread, although I stuck to the single-player campaign. I will note that it might be one of those situations where if you find yourself interested in R2, maybe you should check that out since it seems better than R1 in every way, especially if you're big on playing multiplayer (R1 had good multiplayer, but it might be outdated and not as popular anymore...especially with R2 being released). If you like R2 and want to know more about what started the franchise, then you can check out R1 for cheap...of course, R2 probably would have spoiled you in many cases. If you're not big on multiplayer, then it might be harder to say which one to play first.
I picked it up at lunch, but got out a little late. Then the game was on and the election. Being on the West Coast, I finally got a chance to start it up and I need a new update for the PS3. I'm playing it all night tomorrow!
Too busy playing online co-op. This is seriously addicting. I wish I had a group of pros to play with me. Most of the random games I join are full of nubs who keep getting the team killed repeatedly. I did play a few games out of twenty with pros and it was bliss. We owned everything like nothing.
Actually there was a game going on. And I was at it. If I was home I would play and put the coverage on the radio. You are just jealous you get in on Resistance.
Okay... Last Resistance I was a straight sniper or shotgun guy. This year I am hiding behind walls and playing gimmick games with the auger. What do the new weapons do? That splicey thingy looks dangerous.
I'm sure there will be one (or many) on GameFAQs eventually, but I think it is too early for that. I just got the game today, so I can't really help out. About to play a little of the SP campaign...
I am too scared to delve into SP, you must not have seen the commercials. I love this game. But it doesn't have the same feel it did when only a select few people even had PS3's. Playing til 5am in 1 hit shotgun/sniper levels. They don't even have those options anymore. Customization of unranked multiplayer games is now at a bare minimum.
Didn't think it would be too bad of an idea at first, but... Invisible enemies that can kill you in one hit is a horrible, horrible idea.
Trying to debate whether I should get Resistance or Killzone, I'm trying to limit the number of games I buy. Any suggestion?
