Got it lastnight and played the first level and some multiplayer on-line. Even though it was my first time to play the game, I couldn't get use to the controls at all. Not sure if it's the sensitivity or if I'm trying to zoom in everytime like COD4, but it was pretty hard.

Got it this morning...Impressive graphics...Seems harder than COD4. I will probably recalibrate the controller to COD4 settings.

Thats the thing. I just finished playing Bioshock and am currently on Dead Space. With all these games, its tough to get used to any one config. I think I do like the COD4 controls the best. It almost seems like the developers og out of their way to make the controls different.

I have Dead Space (that I haven't had much time to play) and Bioshock (that my 12 year old is playing).

I wish all these guys would get together and make a standard controller setting to switch too. Oh well...will just do it manually.

I think Alternate 2 is closest to COD 4. There is a radio button to click for the aim option.

Played the first level and some multiplayer, the controls will take some getting used to. I don't like that when you zoom in it stays, in COD4 you only zoom if you hold the button down. I'll get used to it though, the first level is pretty good, though I haven't played Killzone 1 so I have no idea about the storyline.

I guess I will give it a shot. Half an hour before Rockets game starts. Should be plenty of time to head to Gamespot, buy one copy, and come back in time for tip off.

*sigh* Life can get so demanding at times....

There is a "zoom hold" option that you can change so it only zooms when you hold down the button.

Well, good thing I bought it before the Rockets game tonight.

I need to kill some baddies after that choke job by the Rockets against the Bulls.

Storyline isn't all that complicated from what I can recall. The intro kind of gives some hints, although the KZ1 intro helps as well if you haven't seen it (it is pretty good too):
    <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4GgG0YDEQEM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4GgG0YDEQEM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object>
I ended up watching all the cutscenes to KZ1 on Youtube, which could be an option if you want to learn more. It probably isn't necessary for KZ2 (outside of some references to characters from KZ1), but it isn't too bad.

Here's a summary I grabbed off of the PS Forums through Google (from ilikemonkeys):

There was also Killzone Liberation, but I don't think much went on in that game in the grand scheme of things.

edit: Oh yeah, I think the KZ2 site has some additional info on the KZ universe. I think Ian Howe did the writing (or helped):
    http://www.killzone.com/kz/news.psml?kz_news_author=Iain Howe&kz_news_category=Features
Some of this might be in the game though...haven't really kept up with those kind of details.

Really don't think I got the time to pick this up with Street Fighter 4 and a long list of unfinished single player games....

With everything I'm reading I'm going to check it out. Got to finish Dead Space first though.

I do have to say the first one wasn't bad, but a bit of a let down. Mostly the controls I think. Hearing everything though, its worth trying this one.

Is there a way to carry two big guns at the same time like Resistance 2? The small wimpy pistol always seems to stick with me as a secondary weapon no matter what I pick up.

Eh, why does everyone online suck? Three games in a row where I have at least a 2:1 K/D ratio, and three games in a row where I end up in the top 3. I haven't played FPSes in months and I come back to this? Enough of me showing off though, it's off to single player.

Played a lot more multiplayer and it's definitely growing on me. I think I'm going to miss customizing weapons though.

It's good. Real good. Sure the controls feel slow, but you can adjust it to something very similar to COD. There was even an article off N4G dedicated to achieving the COD feel.

Multiplayer is just what you'd expect, nothing revolutionary, but very solid and deep. What I do like is the seamless integration of game types. You will be on one map and game types will change (body count, search and destroy, assasination, etc.) after the game is up. No going out to lobby, just an onscreen announcement and you're in a new type of game. You won't be able to customize weapons like COD4, but there are a lot of levels and ribbons to achieve.

The controls may be tweaked via patch I hear...
