Official Killzone 2 thread I just got it today. One word. AMAZING So far IMO it blows gears + halo + resistance out of the water POST COMMENTS and opinions on the game here
better than MGS4? not that i've played MGS4, but if i do buy a PS3 which game is worth more for it's money?
I just picked it up as well and played through the first level. All I can say, is visually it's freaking incredible. Easily the best graphics, effects and presentation I've ever seen in a video game. I have been playing Resistance 2 a lot, and I thought it couldn't get any better, but Killzone 2 makes R2 look like garbage. The controls are a little weird though, I can never get the sensitivity the way I like it no matter how much I mess with it. I guess the more I play the more I will get used to it. But overall, so far I'm freaking impressed. Once I play the multiplayer a bit I'll give some feedback.
Have been looking forward to it since I realized it was actually coming out today after all of the delays. Picking it up later today. What is funny is that I'm still playing Street Fighter IV and thoroughly enjoying it. Great games being released right around the same time is just a staple of the video game industry. Not that I'm complaining though. I'm just looking at the May/June timeframe wondering what great games are coming out within those two months. Since the new Chronicles of Riddick is coming out early April. I won't even get started on the Wii. I haven't even turned my Wii on in a year. Literally... It's sad really because I really want to play it, but there is just nothing outside of Nintendo's top three titles that I'm interested in i.e. Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Galaxy, and Twilight Princess. There doesn't even seem to be anything on the horizon at all either. But anywho, Killzone 2 tonight definitely! I need to charge my bluetooth headset that I haven't used in ages.
I got it on my lunch break. Had it preordered. Got to play about 30 minutes of the single player campaign. The intro movie was incredible! Totally pulls you into the epic war taking place in the story. Haven't gotten to play the MP yet but I am sure it's great from user reviews I have read. If you own a PS3 and you enjoy FPS then this game is a must own. (I also played the demo you got for preordering the game.) On a side note, people should probably stop comparing it to MGS4 since it is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME. One is a First Person Shooter, the other is a 3rd person espionage game. Graphics are equal between games. KZ2 is much faster and there are more explosions and particle effects so it may seem "blurry" at times but if you pause between battles and look around it is pretty incredible.
It hasn't blown me away (I think maybe I expected too much), but it's a great game. I'm through Salamun so far. No multiplayer yet. Load times are very impressive.
I will be picking this game up TODAY if Toys R Us has it in stock. Won't be playing it until I get an important thing done though, it will be my reward.
Second on the request for comment on multiplayer. But I'm more interested to see if it has single console co-op mode, ie. two players playing the same time, in the same room, on the same console. Any help would be much appreciated.
AFAIK there's no co-op at all in KZ2. The main reason they can't do split screen is because of the graphic intensity of the game. They've stated they are looking into a patch in the future that will allow online co-op play, although nothing concrete has been announced.
Ok I've been thinking about getting this since last fall when I heard about it since I have a PS3 and my favorite type of game is FPS. Wanted to see if it actually lived up to the hype it was getting before I bought it, but seeing as you guys are liking it, I'm probably gonna get it soon. Add me on PSN: O-Sho if you want to play sometime
I wouldn't say it blows CoD4 away by any stretch. It has a futuristice, shinny, glossy, explosiony, flames and lighting feel too it, but as far as graphically they are both top notch, right up there with the cut scenes from Heavenly Sword. The one thing touched on already is the gameplay. Its just not out of the box supercomfort like CoD4 is. I don't feel as connected to my weapon as I did in CoD. And the controls are a bit wierd.
