PS3 doesn't use memory cards, it has a built in hard drive of either 20 or 60 GBs.

I know it has USB ports, so there's nothing stopping you from getting an external HD, flash drive, etc.

USB flash, compact flash, SD, memory sticks all work.

probably easier using a flash drive if you don't have the 60GB one

I don't know specifics about every type of memory card out there, but I'm pretty sure that if there is a USB adapter for it, the PS3 should be able to read it (via the USB adapter).

Wow. So can you not at least put all of your saved info from the PS & PS2 mem cards onto the hard drive?

Card Reader=(SD/MultiMedia Card, CompactFlash Type I/Type II, Microdrive[47], Memory Stick/PRO/Duo)

External HDs must be formatted to FAT32

You'd need an adapter to do that.

External HD is the way to go if you want it for music. I have a backup of my music collection plugged in to my PS3 this way so I can listen to it on Remote Play. I have this drive.

Demos and games have to be on the PS3 drive but pictures, movies, music and downloaded trailers can be on the external drive.

Usually you can format your external HD to fat32 by messing with its properties on your PC. I have never owned an external drive so I don't really know the procedure but I could guess.
