To anyone who has a PS2, do the "monster cables" make any difference in the graphics? I was thinking about buying some monster cables for my PS2 but didn't want to risk paying for something that doesn't really make a difference.

I'm just guessing, but with all that "Monster" brand stuff, I think you have to have quality TV/Stereo components for it to make a noticeable difference IMO.

Monster is the most over-rated stuff out there. If you go to any good A/V shop, they will have cables just as good for a fraction of the price...you are buying a brand name for wires.

Don't waste your money for the PS2 monster cables. You will see no difference that will be worth the money.

Agreed. If you have a high quality audio system and a high quality CD player, Monster cables can make a slight difference in quality, but probably not noticeable for the PS2.

If you had an XBOX with an HDTV and 5.1 surround, then yes component video and fiber optic audio cables would make sense.

    Otherwise, no.

What kind of TV/Audio setup do you have? If you are using regular RCA setup then of course S-Video/Component cabels will make a difference. It doesn't necessarily have to be Monster cables of course.

I use Monster component for my PS2 and it makes a big ass difference.

I've got Monster cables for my PS2, and it provides a much crisper picture than the regular cables.

While I wouldn't spend the money on a Monster branded product, I would suggest you use either an S-Video or Component video cable, assuming your tv supports either standard. The difference between that and standard plugs is noticeable.

I just have it connected to my 52" RCA big screen. No surround sound or anything like that.

I am assuming you are using the regular Red/White/Yellow wires? Your tv should support at-least S-Video. Maybe even Component? If it supports component then I would go with that.

The picture quality is well worth it.

Yes, i am using the red/white/yellow wires. How much does component usually cost and what do I ask for when I go by them?

Did you check to see if your tv supports component? It is usually red/green/blue wires with two audio wires (white and red).

At Circuit City they have the Monster Component for PS2 for 60 bucks. The Sony brand is 25 bucks. You can get many generic brands for 5 bucks if you type "ps2 component" on ebay.

I don't know if there is a big difference in quality between brands. I have Monster and love it.

component cables make a huge difference but the actual brand monster is a rip-off imo.

Then I would probably go with the Sony brand. Just go to a Best Buy or Circuit City and ask for "component wires for PS2".

The majority of the people seem to think Monster is not worth its money and they are probably right. But definitely get some kind of component wires. You will easily notice the difference.

This is what I meant by my post.

Go with component, or at least S-video over composite...just don't waste money on "Monster" branded stuff.
