Protesting Property Tax

    My appraisal went up 10% (homestead capped). Are property tax consultants any good? I will probably protest by myself if the professional can only lower it to 5%. Thanks in advance.

    You can pretty much do it yourself...I'm not sure I'd pay someone to do it, unless you can't take an afternoon off...When I lived in H-town, I did it myself, but you have to do the research and know your neighborhood...

    Usually you bring all your support and talk to this guy first...he usually knocks it down, but if you're still not satisfied, you go to the board...I've done this and they kept lowered it a little more than the first guy, but not much...

    i use o'connor & associates. i don't even think about it. they do the work and the results have been great, for me.
