what does one Program in for the Game Boxes?
    Unix? C?

What is the difference in programming for one over the other?

I just wanna learn to program as a hobby
not professionally. .. I need to start with
    a book or maybe a class. . . . Just would
like to know where to start and where to go.

First, they put you in a full body virtual reality suit. Then you run around, dancing and drawing with a virtual pencil, telling a little fairy exactly how the game should play.... then the fairy puts everything together for you... [IMG]

Unix is considered an operating system and you don't really "program" Unix. C is a programming language as is C+ and C++. Most games are probably written in some fashion of the C programming language.

The majority of games are either programmed in C or C++. A few (particularly handheld games) are programmed in assembly language.

UNIX is an environment in which you can program in, just like Windows and a number of other environments.
