So anyway, stupidly, I lit my small circular grill up on my deck and cooked with it for a couple hours. The wood was old and I just noticed it burned a nice whole straight through. Looks like I can bring those 2 boards up easy though and replace them. However I want to get a wood that looks similar. Can anyone help, it is old gray looking wood, is this a specific kind or is it gray because of age. I just need something that looks similar, kind of old and gray.

You should honestly consider power-washing and resealing the deck with a new board in place. I assume that it is pressure-treated pine. Depending on size my very vague estimate would put the cost at under $200, and your entire deck will look new again.

Here's a guide from Lowes on Cleaning and Sealing your deck

The "old and gray" is a sign that your deck is deteriorating. This would make it look new and greatly slow down deterioration. BTW, both Lowes & Home Depot have these ugly little mats that are designed to protect decks from grills. I've been using one on my bad mofo cast iron charcoal grill on my deck and have had no issues. The mats cost roughly $20-25.

    Edit:
I forgot to make clear that the deck is gray because it wasn't sealed when built and weathering is damaging the wood and just inches below that gray is a beautiful pine (?) deck waiting to get out. Unless it's some freaky deck make from Ipe or Teak or Cedar, which are used on expensive high end decks, it is probably pressure treated pine. It is absolutely important that you make sure to get pressure-treated for outdoor use.

Thx Ottoman, had not thought of that, that is a viable option. Besides that one though when all is said and done I will either do as you suggested or just get a few 1/4 thick boards and put a new layer over it, good as new ;)

Ha, ha. Not at all. I was going by the thread title, although Viagra can be a kick, whether you need it or not... I just have a better understanding of the wood work done in the sack. (or on the floor, or the hot tub, or a blanket in the woods, or on the beach. )
