Seconded. I use Ableton for everything now. The program is probably the best on the market. I even stopped using cubase for electronic stuff and switched over solely to ableton for how awesome it is...

Thanks for the info, guys. I guess I have some more research and experimentation to do. I didn't mean to imply I needed to perform live...as much as performing by myself in my home studio. Unfortunately, I do not have a band and unless you people know a drummer and bassist in the D/FW area who wants to form a Rush Tribute band to start...primarily to get together and jam at first...then I guess I will still be performing solo. lol

I was laying down Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and the acoustic intro last evening. Then, I created a new track to solo over the acoustic intro. It came out pretty good except my timing needs a little work. I will re-record with a click track enabled. It was fun doing that. I'm rather re-enthused about guitar playing given my newfound recording capabilities.

I did order a mic and mic stand so I can mic my amp. I look forward to giving that a shot and checking into the stuff discussed in this thread. I think I will start with the Ableton Live as I already have a demo installed. I believe that is the one that is $135 to unlock.

Edit: My bad...it is $329 USD to upgrade to the full version. I started working with Ableton Live in the last hour. I'm pretty impressed with this product, the effects, and how easy it is to use. I might stick with this one for a while. I was doing acoustic electric stuff and it sounded awesome coming out of my Genelec monitors. Good stuff!

I made the below MP3 with Ableton Live. I basically bastardized the "Wish You Were Here" intro. lol

I hope it is not too bad for you listeners. No click track and no play along to song...so timing is probably off. It sounds really clean from what I'm used to in my primitive recording techniques before.
