Has anyone done it? Just had Prk surgery (paid for by my job) and I'm loving it. Vision isn't 20/20 yet, but I can see well enough. Haven't used any of the pain meds because I don't feel any pain, but using my drops as prescribed to assure the healing process is done properly.
Had PRK done 4 years ago. Best decision I ever made. Still have 20/15 vision. The pain meds are to be used as needed, but definitely keep taking the eye drops. Drying of the eyes was common even a few months after the surgery.
I was told it takes anywhere from 3 months to a year for your eyes to properly heal? In your experience, how long did it take? Did you get 4 different eye drops to use? For me, there are four drops, 2 of them are only for the first week. They also put in contact lenses in my eyes to help the layer heal properly w/o getting infected and they'll remove it day 6.
Had LASIK about 13 years ago and still see good enough to go without glasses or contacts. I'm glad I had it, but I've known some people with horror stories and if you do some research on the web you might think twice if you ever need a touch-up. My dad also had this done around 55 years of age, but eventually had to go back to prescription glasses, although its a much weaker prescription than he used to have.
Laser eye surgery scares me to death. Hell, contact lenses scare me too. Can't stand to have anything in my eyes. Takes major balls to get laser eye surgery.
i had prk done 2 years ago. 20/15 on my good days. i came from 20/400! dr. koch at baylor eye did it. excellent doctor. use the steroid drops as prescribed. and use preservative free eye drops to combat dry eyes. i use refresh plus.
I was the exact same way. A female that got the procedure done was nervous as heck right before surgery. All they do is lightly brush the other layer of your eye off and that only takes a few seconds. You don't feel anything because of the numbing drops they put on your eye prior to the surgery. After that the laser does it it's job and it's done in like 10 seconds. You don't feel anything during the whole procedure which took like 5-10 minutes altogether (numbing, brush layer off eye, shoot laser in eye, insert contact lens). I think the technology is much better than it was 15 years or so ago when it was first introduced, so you shouldn't have any worries on about it. Back in the days the doctors had to position the laser to your eyes and I think this is how some people got bad experiences, but the machines are so advanced now, they automatically do everything (the doctors don't have to do much). Mines was 20/450. I could barely even see the biggest letter (E?) on the eye chart. The amazing thing is I barely have any of the side effects most people have. My eyes aren't sensitive to light, I barely have any halos when driving at night, my eyes don't have any pain, I feel freaking awesome after having the surgery. It's a great feeling to get out of glasses after 20+ years.
it takes about 6months to a year for it to full stabilize. and even thing i feel like it changed a little after 2 years. so just hang in there.
Prk for me was horrible for the first few days, I did not want to do anything but sleep if i could... It took me about 4 weeks for me to see about 100% but for me it's been worth it.. As of right now my eyes are still somewhat dry and will probably be that way for awhile What you need to know for Prk: When getting PRK, they cut the top flap of your eyeball.... prk tends to hurt more and have a longer recovery time than Lasik but is more durable and would be is recommended to have if you are in the military/police/fire fighter/ect. or do any contact sport such as mma A typical Lasik operation is where they would cut the whole flap of the eye but you can probably see well within a few hours of the operation and have a shorter recovery time usually

One of the best things I've ever done. Had LASIK done about 14 months ago. My vision is 20/15, it makes my studying and school seat selection much easier. I'm not so worried all the time about misplacing my glasses, I have a much wider selection of available sunglasses, etc. You have the follow the instructions though! I was a little too relaxed after mine about opening my eyes a few more times than I should of and I had to go in the next day and get one of the layers redone. Not a big deal in the big picture, but still. Although, I was never really in pain, just the regular dryness. Long story short, whoever's thinking about doing it... DO IT! You can get great financing options, just shop around for a Dr. you feel comfortable with.
i had lasik 3 years ago from the doctor that did Tiger's eyes back in the day worst decision i've ever made in my life, and one of the only things i can say i regret. my eyes burn all the time, and no doctor can figure out why (tried every drug in the book)
Some of you guys should try getting cataract surgery. I had 20/400 vision, and after surgery, had 20/15 in one eye, and 20/25 in the other. With both eyes, I saw 20/20. The problem is that one eye didn't correct enough for Astigmatism, which has gotten worse in that eye over the last few years. Still, I was blind as a bat before, and now I wake up and can see everything without glasses or contacts. It's a great feeling. I got hard contacts, pre-gas permeable, when I was 14. That was several decades ago. Being able to just see is wonderful.
