yes its just another liberal lament.

but after watching nightline today shoudln't we do more? isn't it just completely absurd that we cry murder at it happening in iraq but it happens here everyday and its just a joke?

why dont we do more? how can we morally justify this? for god sakes why doesn't the christian right scream bloody murder?

The Christian Right is the stamp of approval for the right wing movement that will do its best to keep their simplton lives safe so that they can continue to strive for Ozzie & Harriet nirvana.

Whew, I'm sure glad that those reports of hatefulness towards Christians is unfounded?

the point was given that there is a strong moral voice in this country that is trying to influence politics according to their morals....shouldn't this be also in their agenda?

but no sorry for trying to have a real discussion.

Don't the liberals claim freedom for all? What about the people of Iraq they wanted to leave under Saddam?

    it goes both ways.

Sorry, you lost me on this one. I just don't see the correlation.

Do you really think it's the church's job to do something about prison rape or are you just trying to emphasize your point that you don't agree with the church's stance on homosexuality?

im saying the church should be against rape. and prison rape is a huge problem in this country so the church should be vehemently against it.

Then leave out the cheap shots at the Christian right, okay? Exactly who is taking up this issue? Nobody maybe? Blame them all then.

I think the liberals want the people of Iraq to have freedom under Saddam, but not when it means living under control of the U.S. with U.S. soldiers roaming the streets.

Well I think prisoners should have freedom to not be raped by guards, but no protection from other prisoners

    (PS - I'm joking)

christian right claims to be advancing divine morals. i'd reckon god wont look happily at this kind of stuff. so my questino is why aren't they pushing it more? i think its absolutely relevant and not a cheap shot at all.

Bottom line is you can't fix everything at once.

Right now correcting prison rape is not a high priority. It's not that it's not important just other things are more important or are higher priorities.

Prison rape everywhere will continue because in the deep recesses of many people's minds, those criminals deserve what's coming for them.

It's the same rationale with being Tough on Crime, just unspoken.

Some Conservative Christians support the death penalty, but oppose killing babies. Who knows what human beings wants?

a good start would be to solve the problem where priests bang little boys.....it would be sort of a double standard and a bit hypocritical if the church came out and said they are against prison rape....especially when I have to believe that a lot of the peole getting raped (not all ,but a lot) in prison are child molesters

I'm no defender of organized religion, but you aren't under the impression that churches SUPPORT prison rape are you?

Pro-life should mean just that... all life should be precious and the death penalty is a ridiculous exception.

Blaming the Christian right for not speaking out on an obvious wrong in society has some logic to it... but not much
there are more terrible things happening in this world right now

    i.e.
They should be beating down the Whitehouse door demanding action in Sudan, where Pro-government Arab militias (our enemy?) are wiping out an entire population...
    somehow, no one cares

but please... get that amendment passed so gay's can't marry... got to protect the santity of marrage (don't worry about Vegas and quicky weddings, prostitution, that is ok as long as it's a man and woman)

    x a lot
