pgabs and mcmark are once again a few steps behind in the discussion. Again I cite the need for a 'Gifted and Talented' forum that these two can not access.
no, you guys have excused bush for 9-11 while at the same time giving him credit for no other attacks, logic failing in both credit for one, absolving in the other, and the logic that 9-11 happen so freaking much that we absolutely know that another has been prevented
I'm disappointed... this billboard is so 2004 republican fear mongering. Get with the times! We need some unique material! How bout: A picture with a horde of armed muslims storming the white house. That should rile up the mindless ones.
I'm further confused about the billboard company. Just because it's a first amendment right, doesn't mean they have to sell the billboard space to whomever gives them money, does it? Maybe they do...I don't understand how the law is upheld in situations like these. I mean, I understand the right to free speech, but if I decided to rent out my front yard to advertisers, wouldn't I have the right to choose what advertisements went on the yard?
Yes. But I also bet if you were selling your yard for advertising and no one else was advertising you would allow them to say whatever they wanted as long as you go a pay check. I think he should be able to say what he wants, but the board loses the focus of what happened that day. Whether or not parties are involved with terrorism or let terrorism happen or dont care is regardless. We as Americans need to remember that people lost their husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, cousins, aunts, uncle, nieces, etc., etc., etc., on September 11th, and to try to gain from it personally by selling CDs on the internet for political and personal gain should make all Americans who love this country sick.
9/11 was the fault of Both bush and clinton - there's no doubt about that. But it's less clear why there hasn't been another attempt. thus far, we haven't seen any plans intercepted either for another attempt, for all we know these guys might be trying to focus on other targets. if there was another attack, i think there's plenty of blame to go around. but to suggest that 9.11 is a reason to vote republican is not only fear mongreling, but it's just stupid because 9.11 happened with a republican president who was spending more time on vacation than any other president and was reading children's books or running away to nebraska when it was all going down. now that's leadership?
I never said I agree with the message. I think it's disgusting and factually wrong. Who was on the clock at the time? All I'm saying is that the advertiser has the right to say it. The billboard owner has the right to put it up. Democrats have the right to put up something inflammatory about the current administration.
I don't see the big deal. The twin towers are getting the Nazi treatment. No one may ever dare challenge the Nazis for most villainous nor the 9/11 attack for most tragic. It was a big deal, but I don't see using the images as much different from using pictures of car wrecks in a billboard. I think it makes his point very succinctly with one simple image and caption (however dumb the idea may be).
