Don't think Valanciunas will be in the mix. Plays for the Raptors, will need some time to adjust to the NBA. I'd say 1. Davis 2. Beal 3. Waiters 4. Lillard It's about opportunity, really. Beal and Waiters will see a lot of minutes and will have to carry a lot of the scoring load. Lillard should get plenty of minutes as well, but probably won't get to shoot as much with LMA, Wes Matthews, Hibbert(?) and Batum(?). Davis is just the best player, period, so I think he'll end up winning ROY, despite perhaps not quite having an offensive game as developed as these other guys.
Winners of the ROY are usually rookies who know what they are good at and know where they fit. Prediction for other rookies: Waiters - truly think this guy is the next Eric Gordon / Wade. Will have immediate impact. Oozes so much confidence. Contender for ROY. Beal - I'm not impressed with him. He seems like a player who would rather try to fit in than try to dominate. So his stats won't be all that. Robinson - there may be a chance this guy gives a Blake Griffin-like rookie season. Austin Rivers - this guy will be terrible in his rookie year. I can feel it. Will probably be as inefficient as rookie year Brandon Jennings.
Is Valanciunas really that good? Who does he compare to? Sucks he wasn't drafted to a different team. The Raptors are so ... uninspiring.
I'll say MKG and see what happens let's see the Rockets trade away lowry, sign machado and zoran, and have a 1st team NBA All Rookie squad of machado or zoran, lamb, royce, terrence, montejunas
I always root for the underdogs when I don't have a horse in the race. Sorry for all the idioms.. Davis is in a terrible situation to rack up numbers. Their point guard situation is iffy at best. For young bigs like him, you generally need a point guard who can accurately feed him the ball deep in the paint. Lowry will be the floor general for Toronto, and they have some great young talent. I don't expect them to contend for the east or anything, but Val is gonig to get the minutes, and the looks to win ROTY. Beal is my second option. Pairing him up with Wall makes for a back court I can't wait to watch.
When has hype ever won someone a ROTY award? It's usually well deserved. Also, I'm really loving Thomas Robinson. My favorite player of the draft.
I guess that came out wrong. Meant to state that, with so much praise towards his abilities and his potential as a franchise cornerstone, I don't see a way for him to not get it. He will definitely deserve it, I am sure. Perhaps I'm still bitter the Hornets won it, hah.
