While I will say I'm partial to the Bulls these days, I do find it somewhat dubious that the new ESPN rankings have the Rockets listed 27th out of 29 teams. The list has them ahead of only the Warriors and the Wizards. Although it is almost as surprising that as of this post only 2 teams in the league (Bulls and Warriors) have fewer wins than the Rockets - everyone else has 10 or more wins. I have to believe this will change as the season progresses. -Paul.
Seriously Paul, this is not the year for optimism, we really suck when compared to almost every other team around the league. We are at least 2 key players short and HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO chance at the playoffs. I'm just trying to be brutally honest. I believe we will pick anywhere from 3 to 6 when it is all said and done.
Umm, apparently half of this BBS is forgetting that the Rockets have been devastated by injuries. Hakeem has been out for an extended period of time. Charles' career is over with his injury. Cato has missed some games as of late and has shown no signs of returning anytime soon. TMass has had a nagging groin injury most of the season and doesn't look to be improving at all. It's really beginning to make me sick hearing many of you, and you know who you are...the ones that ARE serious, that want our beloved Rockets to lose, just so we can get a better pick in what is already going to be a WEAK draft. And please don't try and come back saying that its not a weak draft, because there is not one single player that truly stands out head and shoulders above the rest as in previous years. Those years are pretty much gone unless some more Tim Duncans come out of the woodworks. Sorry, but I just refuse to believe this team is that bad. ------------------ Tanking is not acceptable. End of story.
"He plays like he wants to be a houston rocket!" Yeah, like Sam Mack. I like Kenyon Martin's game and I'm sure he'll be good, but lets not be deceived by numbers. How many 6'7"-6'8" dominating shot-blockers in college end up shot blockers in the pros? He's improved a lot this season though from what I've learned of him recently ... And yes ... Paul is Matt's brother.
I can only think of 3 VERY good NBA shot-blockers that're 6'9" or under : Antonio McDyess, Bo Outlaw, and Tracy McGrady. If Martin's as good as 2 of those 3, I'll be one happy camper. Not sure he's worth a top-5 pick if we're just getting another Bo Outlaw. Once again, it doesn't matter until the time comes. We may not have a chance to get him, or due to trades, getting him may be impossible. ------------------ Rocket fuel pumps through these veins...
