One of the few things I like about working in a big time ad agency, is that you attend alot of private parties.

Well, on FRIDAY, I will be attending a private party created by our public relations department for the new NBA store in mid-town Manhattan. This is a big thing for our agency since we are fighting for the rights to make the new ad campaign for the NBA.

What does this mean? Well, I will be at that party schmoozing with big time execs of the NBA and the teams.

Now, here is the deal. My contract does not allow me to do things like talk to a potential client and then repeating what they say to someone outside the agency. This is considered confidential according to the ad agency I work for. But, since they don't know I come here, I can relay the info I obtain to you guys without losing my job. [IMG]

You guys and gals need to give me some good questions about the NBA in general that you may want to know. I hope to see a Rocket exec there so you can also post some questions about the Rocks.

I already have an idea of what I am going to say that day. The best questions are the ones I will look to ask.

One quick point. I won't be able to say any names because most of the stuff we are going to talk about there will be off the record. Most of those people are going to be drinking so I will hopefully get to ask alot of questions and I assume that I will be receiving some sensitive info back. I know that important people around the league visit here so thats another reason to not say names.

Hopefully after the party,(if I am not that toasted) I can get a killer post on the questions you guys want to know.

    Gracias!

When will the Rockets change jerseys and will they hire Rocketeer (Mr. Cebrero sp?) to design it?

Would the NBA allow a team to be ripped out of its long time home to be moved to another city only to be sold a couple of years later? (ala the Browns/Ravens - Why didn't Modell just sell them in Cleveland?) I'm not just referring to the Rockets, but any team.

Are the NBA rules going to keep going the way of the NFL? Meaning will the players eventually just be playing H.O.R.S.E.? Because the calls being made in the games nowadays is just carrying it too far.

Are there other rule changes in the works?

We already know the answer why, but would like to hear somebody from the NBA acknowledge that NBC and the NBA kiss the feet of the Lakers and Knicks.

Question number one has to be: Who will be the focus of the sign-and-trade involving our $4.5 mil exception? Ideally what player would the Rocks brass like to get in here this summer?

Have the Rockets scouts (and Rudy, and Les) already made a 'short list' of the top few players they want with our first pick? Are they focusing on PF, SF, or C?

What's the latest on Tim Duncan testing the free agent waters? Grant Hill? Tracy McGrady? Eddie Jones?

Could Rashard Lewis be pried away from the Sonics?

What's the real scoop on Martin's injury? Is anybody backing off of him?

Would Krause take Martin if the Bulls had the #1 pick?

What does x team think of Mobley? What would they give up to get him? Drew?

Who REALLY leaked the Stoudamire-Houston trade?!?

    HERE'S THE QUESTION!

Ask them if it is alright for Jeff to use the Rockets name (preferrably logo) in a grassroots, non-profit campaign to raise public awareness in an effort to build one of their franchises a stadium and keep them home. Tell them about Houston's downtown rejuvenation (2 stadiums). Tell them no other city can provide a better spot for a new NBA stadium. Tell them it is OK with the Rockets. Tell them saveourrockets.com is an official non-profit. If they like the idea, ask them who Jeff can contact for official approval.

We ask for little...just the use of the Rockets/Comets names in a one-time, humble campaign to raise money to raise awareness.
