I say increase the height of the rim by a few inches and let players goaltend like they do in the NBA Street games.

Why not? They already allow traveling and flopping. I also wouldn't mind if they allow double dribbling and abolish the backcourt violation.

very interesting. Thats one of the last rules i thought the NBA would ever think to change. As we have so many floppers in the NBA, now we will see guys who come in and just guard the rim. Kinda dumb if you ask me, but we will see.

If this ever gets approved by the NBA, I think we can expect a bunch of games where one team holds the other to 50 points or they both score around 60. Yikes.

I read a few weeks ago that FIBA has been pushing the NBA to do this. Experimenting with it in D-League is a good idea.

I like the idea of standardizing the NBA and FIBA more closely, but it'll take a while for this one to grow on me.

Bad idea. NBA players are too athletic. I think the FIBA rule is horsecrap to begin with.

This is a bad idea, goaltending is a good rule.
There would be a lot less 3-pt shots, and and a lot less game-winning shots

Really, so any player could knock the ball off the rim..that sounds so wrong.

This would skew the block stat in a landslide.

I dont think its a good idea. NBA players are not good at it in FIBA play, or never tried to do it because they never even needed to do it in NBA play. But once NBA players get adjusted to timing it, players could easily pick up on it. Have a weakside blocker act as a sweeper. Soon as it touches rim, flick it off. Kevin Garnett already does that on every dead ball. Imagine him doing it as his ROLE.

I remember Yao got called quite a few times for that when he first came to the NBA. It took him a while to get rid of the habit of knocking the ball off the rim.

basketball is an amazing sport but change is good sometimes...

the NBA could stand to see some minor changes - court size, key size, what have you... fast forward 100 years... i HOPE the game has continued to evolve in the next 100 years.

The athleticism of NBA players makes this rule a bad idea, in my opinion.
