sorry if i restate anything thats already been said in this thread, its way too long. Well i think that we will get better, as any young team should w/ experience. I think our major thing is getting sum help at the 5 spot. I know that its too late for a free agent, but there has to be a big body or two sitting in the CBA just itching for a call up. We are literally going to get stomped to the damn ground. Hakeem, well he'll pull down a few boards, and might hit a jumper or two, but outside of that, ?????? He's not going to hustle for every loose rock, he's not going to snag a board from someone and throw it straight back in their face-- you guyz know that last part is just sad but true. Collier acts like both of his hands are damn magnets that repel the damn ball. The few times he does get a board, he tips it away! Im not Collier bashing, im stating the truth. And what aggravates me even more is that when he gets a board that falls right to him, Bill and Calvin jock him so hard that its like they think milk just might come out. If we can get another 5, for the bigbodies of the Lakers and Blazers, just to name our up coming games, we should begin to gel. If we dont, lets talk about lottery 2001. ------------------ Lookin at a 75 year old man in a thong: NASTY Lookin at Shaq hit free throws: "O SH**!"
OK, this may be a bit of a stretch in the search for positives, but having expected the worst, I've actually been happy to see Hakeem rebounding and playing defense so well. Granted, his offensive game is basically gone, but particularly against the Clippers, he blocked a bunch of shots and rebounded well. I've been surprised that he hasn't played more minutes since Cato has been out, because he can still defend the paint better than most centers in the league, making it difficult for teams to drive the lane against us. ------------------ "Someday I'd like to do something really meaningful with my life. One thing, how long can we hide behind the "well it is a young team" excuse? 1 year? 2 years? 3 years? All truly "GREAT" Players turned their teams into WINNERS quickly, not over a course of years. DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
Name one "Great" player that turned their team into a WINNER in less than 3 years. Let's see, I can't remember any. Not even MJ himself made the Bulls a conteder till Pippen established him self. Magic allready had stars around him in. I wouldn't qualify Duncan since every thing was laid out for him at every position. Steve is really in a unique position. Look at the team we have; young average players with loads of potential with an aged Superstar that is running on fumes. It's already amazing to me that they have young descent talent at every position in less than 2 seasons. It's gonna take some time. ------------------ The begining of www.steviefranchise.web.com
Larry Bird went to a Celtic team that won 29 games the year before and turned it into a 61 win team the next. That's what I call greatness. ------------------
dadakota, please inform me of some of these GREAT players you speak of because I'm having a hard time figuring out what great players immediately made their teams winners. No one player can bring his team to greatness he must have at least one more 2nd tier star caliber player. This is the reason teams like philly and toronto will never go anywhere they only have one star.Philly has iverson and TO has vince and as long as their the only prime time players on their respective teams they will be no better than playoff bait for more powerful established teams. This applies in the west as well with teams like a team like the wolves. ------------------ www.truebballfansite.homestead.com
Vince Carter I'm serious.. take a look at their roster without him, and you will know what I mean Their team, with vince, is at least respectable. ------------------ [This message has been edited by SaFe (edited November 06, 2000).] [This message has been edited by SaFe (edited November 06, 2000).]
DaDakota, Rocketeer, Tacomah, SaFe Would you all mind reading my topic post? Take your flaming off-topics into another thread, and see how many people flock to them...a lot, I'm sure. Just don't do it here like it has anything remotely to do with my intentions. never mind, I'll do it for you. <font size="1"><font color="> [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited November 06, 2000).]
heh sorry, was just responding to the post above Positives?? well... I like the rockets, win or lose. I would rather them lose now then later. ------------------
Positives: Stats through four games- Houston averaging 96.5 points a games and opponents averaging 95 points a game. Our one win was big, and the three losses were very, very close. Rockets are averaging 3.75 opp. blocks per game, 3rd in the league. 5th in the league in fouls committed at 22.5 Here's the shocker- 15.5 turnovers per game 6th in the leauge 6 opp steals per game 4th in the league On top of that, our opponents are averaging more turnovers a game (16) than us for the first time in years. If this is how well we protect the ball when we have sloppy game play and a 1-3 record...
Every game has been competitive. A couple of free-throws and a three pointer and the Rockets could just as easily be 3-1. ------------------
I actually think that the ball movement on this team has gotten much better this season. I like Dream's rebounding. I think a good offensive game will get him more comfortable on the offensive end. I want to see more Collier. He's been banging the boards when he's in there. We're a few extra free throws and layups away from being 4-0, so I'm not that worried. We need to improve on a lot of things, I'm just not ready to proclaim Francis and this season a bust just yet. Now if we get to 1-7, let's talk. ------------------ "He was under more balls than a midget hooker."-Bobby Hill visit www.swirve.com
