Posey for Wally?

I'm assuming we'll match the offer for Posey, but once he signs with us, I think we could still consider moving him.

Where? The T'wolves come to mind. They've added Kandi, Spree, and E.T., the latter two were 2nd scoring options on their former teams, and the Kandiman's gonna want some touches. Not to mention Troy Hudson, who had a breakout series in the playoffs.

So where does that leave Wally? His play was disappointing in the first round of the playoffs against the Lakers, his defense is suspect, and with Sprewell on the roster, he may not even be the best shooter on the team. Would the Wolves be willing to give him up for an athletic defensive stopper in James Posey, who knows his place on the team and won't demand shots? Throw in the 1st round pick from Chicago, and I think the Wolves will bite.

So my question has three parts:

    1) Assuming we match the offer for Posey and he signs with us, would you be willing to trade him for Wally?

    2) Would Minnesota?

    3) Would CD?

first you need to understand the luxury tax/salary cap issues.

2nd, you need to look at he price tag of Posey then Wally

3rd, after learning that info you wouldn't have posted this

So Wally would leave to come to Houston to be the 4th option?...inheriting the same problem you cited for him leaving Minnesota...

Sorry, Wally must have signed a contract extension I'm not aware of. He made 2.9 mil last year, and at most Posey would be making 4.9.

It wouldn't be a matter of Wally leaving for Houston, it would be a matter of him being traded. And ideally he'd be a third option, allowing Cat to be more of a defensive stopper, occaisional three point shooter. With Posey, gone we'd need to have Mobes play tougher defense against the scoring 2s and 3s.

Why are you guys dogging Wally so much...The guys is leagues better than Posey. An all-star calibur player for crying out loud.

In fact, he would be a sweet shooter to have paired up with Yao.

    it's called money.

Wally makes 10 million a year
    Posey probably 4 to 5

    luxury tax says it all.

Im not talking about the money aspect. Im talking about people saying that Wally sucks. The guy is an all-star. If Arenas can make 10 million a year, Wally should at least be making 8-10 per year too.
